A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Angels vs. Colby Lewis and Rangers vs. Hector Santiago(Full Game Stack)

This game has the highest total in the early slate and can be safely targeted from both sides of the ball. Both teams are throwing out marginal pitchers who have been pitching decent this season but are due for some immediate regression. The Angels will go up against Colby Lewis who has gone 3-0 in his nine starts with an impressive 2.75 ERA. Dig a little deeper and his 4.20 xFIP and 92.3% LOB rate point directly towards regression. He has also only striking less than seven batters per nine innings and is an extreme fly ball pitcher(37% GB rate) allowing 13.5% HR/FB rate. Look for the Angels to take advantage. The best option to build you stack around will be Mike Trout who has positive splits for his career vs. right handed pitching.

On the other side of the ball the Rangers bats will get a juicy matchup vs. lefty Hector Santiago. He is in a very similar boat as Lewis with three wins in nine starts while striking out just seven batters per nine innings. The ERA of 3.93 isn't very attractive and could be much worse as the 4.82 xFIP and 81% LOB rate would suggest. He is also a fly ball pitcher(40% GB rate) and is struggling with control(3.25 BB/9) and giving up a 14.1% HR/FB rate. The Rangers sit in the middle of the pack when it comes to team success vs. left handed pitching but shave some great options to throw in your stack today. Start with Adrian Beltre and Ian Desmond who have crushed left handed pitching and even add Roughned Odor at the top of the lineup who has positive splits as well, even as a left handed hitter. Elvis Andrus at Shortstop also makes  a nice choice as he is currently hitting .344 vs. left handed pitching out of the six hole.

*Note - I won't dig in to the Red Sox stack which is pretty automatic at the moment as they are hitting the cover off the baseball and lead the league in runs scored.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Jeff Locke

Anytime I see Jeff Locke on the mound I instantly put a target on his back no matter who he is facing. Well today he gets an extremely tough matchup vs. the D Backs who are ranked 4th in team wOBA and home runs against left handed pitching. They also own the second highest ISO(.200) vs. southpaws meaning when they get those hits they are driving in runs as well. Locke is a three pitch pitcher with a soft(91 mph) fastball and slow curve. He has really got himself in trouble with walks(4.60 BB/9) and the long long ball(13.6% HR/FB rate) and that could prove deadly vs. the D Backs tonight. Build you stack around Paul Goldschmidt who has terrorized left handed pitching for his career with a .428 wOBA and 171 wRC+. Next I turn to "Beef" Welington Castillo who makes for my top catching option of the slate as he also destroys left handed pitching to the tune of of a .494 wOBA and 211 wRC+ for the season. Be sure to check the updates on Jean Segura who left last night's game after being hit in the head wit a pitch. If it turns out he is ok he makes a great choice at the top of the order.

Also Consider - Tampa Bay Rays vs. Justin Nicolino(MIA)
