Long Ball Targets

(All stats on the charts are since 2014)
(Stats talked about in the write-up are this years stats)

George SpringerGeorge Springer FD 4000 DK 4900
Opponent - TEX (Hamels) Park - @TEX
FD - 12.01 DK - 9.59

Springer

It was not the best of debuts for me as no guys went yard, but at least Kris Bryant hit the fence twice and hit an absolute bomb that went foul! Haha. I'm looking to bounce back tonight and it all starts with George Springer.

Cole Hamels isn't a guy you normally pick on (especially with a 15-game slate on our hands), but I love this matchup for Mr.Springer.

I'm going to start off by saying that Cole Hamels has allowed a total of 13 home runs on the year (not a typo), and 11 of those have come against right-handed hitters. He has had his troubles keeping the ball in the ballpark, and pitching at Arlington won't help him much tonight. Springer and his .256 ISO/.445 wOBA against left-handed pitchers are in the perfect situation to have a monster night.

Not only does Springer devour southpaws, but he is also coming into this contest on fire! He owns a .472 wOBA, .678 SLG and 205 wRC+ in his last 14 games. There is nothing better than rostering a guy who is on fire and has a platoon advantage. Have yourself a night, Springer.

Marcell OzunaMarcell Ozuna FD 3300 DK 4400
Opponent - MIN (Dean) Park - @MIN
FD - 11.53 DK - 8.97

ozuna

Ozuna owns a .556 wOBA vs. left-handed pitchers this year! I know he's only had 45 plate appearances, but still, wow! That is mind-blowing and he owns a .452 ISO and .881 SLG to go along with that ridiculous wOBA. This guy is having an amazing year and does not get the recognition he deserves.

He will be going up against southpaw, Pat Dean. He is coming into this contest sporting a 4.15 ERA and 4.16 FIP (I find that fascinating how is ERA and FIP are neck-and-neck). Righties have also done some damage against Dean in his young Major League career. They own a .366 wOBA to go along with a .517 SLG. Ozuna has a beautiful matchup, so look for him to have a big night.

After he hits his dinger tonight and wins you some money -- vote for Ozuna, so he can get into the All-Star game! (I'm all in on Ozuna tonight).

Value Play Long Ball Target

Chris CarterChris Carter FD 3600 DK 3500
Opponent - OAK (Manaea) Park - @MIL
FD - 11.15 DK - 8.37

carter

Chris Carter is my cheaper dinger call of the night. He has not been hitting well in his last 10 games, as he owns a .227 OBP and 10 K's, but look for him to turn things around tonight with Sean Manaea taking the hill. He's got a favorable L/R matchup and Manaea has struggled against righties. They own a .393 wOBA and .549 SLG on the year, which puts power-hitting Chris Carter in a great position, especially playing at Miller Park.

So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.

  1. I really like this new article….Im gonna thank you now and use all 3 guys tonight!

  2. Like the new article! Hate Springer though, he’s 0-9 against Hamels.

    • Cole has given up Homers in 5 straight games. 3 of those games were multiple hr games. I think someone will go deep.

  3. That’s way too small of a sample size for me personally.

  4. What are your thoughts with squeezing Braun in for Springer?

  5. I love Braun today as well. They are neck-and-neck for me honestly.

  6. Love all this stuff u guys do. How bout a stolen base article next ? Ha that would be perfect

  7. Chris Carter’s home runs:
    Vs. Righties this year- 12
    Vs. Lefties- 2
I’d rather stick with the villa/braun combo

  8. Great call on Carter last night…thank you!
