Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 11/11/16

Hello and Welcome to a medium sized 6 game Friday slate. Tonight we have the Jets, Stars, Kings, and Senators all playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, and the Jets, Stars, and Kings are playing back to back road games. We have an interesting slate tonight as some bad teams are playing each other and in one game, two elite teams are facing off against each other. Do not fear though my friends as we have found some great plays to help you build your bankroll. Let's get started shall we?

Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

GOALIES

Cam Talbot

This is a tough day for goaltending as a couple of the elite guys have extremely tough matchups, and a couple of decent guys have good matchups but haven't been playing the greatest lately. The system loves Talbot and Dallas is playing it's 3rd game in 4 nights. They won last night in Calgary but the Flames aren't good, and they lost to Winnipeg 8-2 the night before last. Talbot started the season off red hot, but has cooled off recently. The thing is though is that his most recent starts were all on the road against the islanders, the Rangers, and most recently in Pittsburgh where the Oilers lost 4-3 in a shootout. Tonight is just what the doctor ordered. He faces a lot of shots by rule as evident by his 94 allowed in his last 3 games. the stars fire 30.3 shots on goal per game but only score 2.54 goals per game which is 20th in the league. Edmonton is 16th in goals against with 2.50 per game, and Vegas currently has them as the highest favoured team this evening (-158). I may look to Corey Crawford on Drafkings as he is cheaper than Talbot there, but Talbot is $1100 cheaper on FanDuel, and therefore makes a great play there in all formats.

CENTERS

Connor McDavid

I'm a little concerned by him taking only 2 shots on goal in his last 2 games, but he had 3 assists against Pittsburgh in his most recent game and fired 13 shots on goal in his previous 3 games before the last 2. McDavid has 5 goals, 12 assists, and 37 shots on goal already this season. He is almost a must play already in his career every time he hits the ice, and tonight he faces the Dallas Stars who a 5th worst 3.54 goals per game, and they just want to get this road trip over with. I am comfortable playing him and one of his linemates in cash games tonight, and stacking the entire line in tournament lineups. Don't ignore Edmonton tonight.

Stack With: Jordan Eberle, Patrick Maroon

Travis Zajac

One of my favourite NHL strategies is to look for a low priced forward who logs a lot of ice time and plays on a good line so that he gets a lot of opportunites to score fantasy points. It didn't take me long to choose Zajac who plays on the top line and power play with the deadly Taylor Hall and P.A Parenteau. Zajac averages 20 mintues of ice time per game in New Jersey and that simply cannot be ingored. He is currently on a 4 game point streak and has 9 shots on goal in his last 3 games. He looks like a must play in all formats tonight against the lowly Sabres.

WINGERS

Jacob Voracek

The system like Simmonds and Giroux slightly better tonight and I cannot argue with that. The Flyers are playing the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight, and the are a team to pick on every night until the start playing better defensively. The Leafs are 2nd worst in the NHL with 3.62 goals allowed per game (10 in the last 2,) and 3rd worst with 33.3 shots allowed per game. The reason Voracek is my favourite play tonight is the fact that he has fired 58 shots on goal this year which is unreal. Add to that 6 goals, and 9 assists, and he makes a terrific play in all formats tonight.

PP Stack with: Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds

Jamie Benn

Benn hasn't been great this year so far but he scored 2 goals on 4 shots in Calgary last night and he is so ridiculously cheap for a man as talented as him, that I had no choice but to mention him here. If you start Talbot tonight then Benn isn't a great play, but if you want a tourney play tonight this is your man, as the Oilers are better but still not great on Defence.

PP Stack with: Tyler Seguin, Patrick Eaves, Antoine Roussel

Nikolaj Ehlers

He plays on which is arguably the hottest line in the league right now alongside Scheifele and Laine who are garnering the most attention. I am mentioning the young Danish winger though because of his cheaper price and similar production since he's moved up to the top line and top power play unit. In his last 4 games Ehlers has 2 goals, 6 assists, and 12 shots on goal and also play with his line-mates on Winnipeg's powerful #1 PP unit. I like the entire line tonight as they've been matchup proof since they joined together, but Ehlers carries the most value this evening.

PP Stack with: Mark Scheifele, Patrik Laine, Blake Wheeler

DEFENSEMEN

Shayne Gostisbehere

I already stated the facts and how bad Toronto has been to start the year, so let's just sugar coat as to why I like another Flyer tonight. He is called the Ghost, but you can definitely see him on the ice everywhere he goes. He doesn't believe in sophomore slumps as evident by his 3 goals, 6 assists, 45 shots on goal, and 19 blocked shots. Enough said. That's awesome for a defencemen and he QB's the top PP unit in Philly. Play him everywhere and don't think twice.
