Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 2/19/17

Welcome to a crazy Sunday in daily fantasy hockey. There are 11 games today and neither FanDuel or DraftKings is running an All-Day slate. Take you pick between the four or five available slates and do what we always do. Root for value and stack the top players in the best matchups. Sounds easy right? Like everything in life, the more you put in, the more you get out. Let's dive right in and take a look at some of the top plays from the nine games starting at 6:00 p.m. ET tonight.

Here is a look at the matchups for the day and the teams who could be playing wit some fatigue:

GOALIES

Sergei Bobrovsky FD - $8500 DK - $8100
Opponent - NAS
Proj Pts FD - 18.93 DK - 4.73

After giving up four goals in back to back starts out of the All-Star Break Bobrovsky has somewhat caught his stride again. He has won three of his last five games allowing under three goals in three of those games.  The good news is that he gets a plus matchup at home today as the Predators come to town after losing to the Wild last night and have been losers of three of their last four games. He is safe in all formats.

John Gibson FD - $9100 DK - $7900
Opponent - LA
Proj Pts FD - 18.08 DK - 4.52

In a very similar situation as BoB today we have John Gibson in the #2 spot. He has also been inconsistent since the ASB but is still showing those signs of being a top goalie in the league. The Ducks are also one of just three teams not playing a back to back or third in four or even a fourth game of the week. He gets a decent inter state matchup vs. the Kings who have also struggled, losers of four of their last five games.  In two previous meetings with the Kings, Gibos has gone 1-1 but has stopped 56 of 59 shots he faced.

Also Consider: Tuukka Rask(BOS)

CENTERS

Auston Matthews FD - $7400 DK - $7300
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 15.66 DK - 4.61

It really has been the year of the rookie and if you're a Leaf fan, you have to be licking your chops about the future of the team. Matthews is currently tied with his linemate William Nylander for 2nd overall in rookie scoring with 48 points on the season. He also sits second in rookie goals with 27 goals which also ranks Top 10 in the entire league. Looking at his split stats, he has been much better on the road this year with 32 points in 30 games played. Not only is a great play in GPP's, but he also makes a safe option in cash games with his above average shot volume for a center.

Stack with: Zach Hyman, William Nylander

Jonathan Toews FD - $7200 DK - $5900
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 16.13 DK - 4.8

The first thing to point out here is the difference in pricing between the two sites. Toews is a much better play on DraftKings today where he comes under $6K once again. This is another example of why playing both sites can be used to your advantage. Toews has been red hot since the ASB with points in five of seven games including three multi-point efforts. He has also seen a huge uptick in shot volume lately with 18 shots over his last four games. He is a GPP play on FanDuel with a much more realistic price but safe in all formats on DraftKings.

Stack with: Nick Schmaltz, Richard Panik

Brayden Point FD - $3500 DK - $3900
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 6.77 DK - 2.11

Digging down even deeper today is ex Moose Jaw Warrior, Brayden Point. With Steven Stamkos out of the picture, Point has been thrust into a bigger role than expected and he has impressed for the most part. He isn't going to provide any safety as the shot volume is well below average but he has upside in the offensive department skating with Jonathan Drouin and also gets powerplay time. He is also hot right now with points in three straight games and face the worst defensive team in the league. He is a safe punt play in any format.

Stack with: Jonathan Drouin, Alex Killorn

WINGERS

David Pastrnak FD - $6900 DK - $6900
Opponent - SJ
Proj Pts FD - 14.01 DK - 4.26

He has spent each of the last three games on the second line with Krejci and the two have been lighting it up lately. Krejci has points in three straight(two multi-point efforts) while Pastrnak has points in five straight and eight of his last nine games. While the matchup isn't most ideal, I think stacking the two together is high upside, low owned stacking option in GPP's tonight. To be honest, Pastrnak makes a great play in cash games as well as he has also recorded a whopping 40 shots on goal the last 10 games.

Stack with: David Krejci

Boone Jenner FD - $4700 DK - $4700
Opponent - NAS
Proj Pts FD - 9.97 DK - 3.07

Going to head right down to value town for my other winger tonight. Jenner plays on the top line with Atkinson and Dubinsky and comes with a very attractive sub $5K price tag on both sites. The offensive output has been limited all season with just 21 points, five of which came in the last 10 games but that isn't why he is listed today. Jenner provides a very safe floor(for the price) as he has tallied 36 shots on goal over the last 10 games and averages over 2.5 per game for the season.

Stack with: Cam Atkinson, Brandon Dubinsky

Also Consider: Kyle Palmieri(GPP)

DEFENSEMEN
Ivan Provorov FD - $4600 DK - $4300
Opponent - VAN
Proj Pts FD - 10.27 DK - 3.08

I swear it isn't my Flyer fandom that makes me pick Provorov every single time I write the article and the Flyers are playing. Like me and Ryan have stated many times, we love going with the value defense strategy as we feel that we can find players that maybe won't have the same upside as the upper tier D-men but will give you a nice return on your dollar. The Flyers offense is TERRIBLE right now so the upside is limited for Provorov but offers a high floor for the mid $4K price tag with shots and blocks.

Zdeno Chara FD - $4400 DK - $3300
Opponent - SJ
Proj Pts FD - 8.72 DK - 2.63

Ok, first of all, I understand Chara is old. Now before I offend anyone, let me explain that he isn't too much older than me, but for NHL level hockey he is most definitely worn down. That doesn't mean he can't give us some value in DFS though, as he comes at near minimum price on DraftKings. He doesn't get the powerplay time he used to but plays nearly four minutes a game on the penalty kill, giving him ample opportunities for blocked shots. He is also still averaging close to 2.5 shot on goal per game and has five of his 16 points in the last 10 games where the Bruins have won three striaght and six of their last 10 games.

Also Consider: Niklas Hjalmarsson(CASH)
