GOALIES

Sergei BobrovskySergei Bobrovsky FD - $8900 DK - $8300
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 19.06 DK - 4.77

Goalie Bob is personally my favorite goalie that does not wear a Montreal Canadiens uniform. Bob hasn't allowed a goal in three consecutive starts. Three shutouts in a row? That's pretty impressive stuff there Bob. Buffalo has been scoring a few goals lately, but when you're as hot as Bobrovsky is, that shouldn't matter today. The Sabres are still ranked 21st overall on offense and the Blue Jackets have been playing well lately. We can possibly look elsewhere in other formats because he will be highly owned today, but Bobrovsky should be highly considered for you cash game lineups.

Jake AllenJake Allen FD - $8600 DK - $7700
Opponent - ANA
Proj Pts FD - 17.95 DK - 4.49

This guy has been up and down like a roller coaster this year, but he's been stellar in his last two starts. If you want to take down a tournament or two, you need to separate yourself from the masses and Allen will possibly help you do that today. He has allowed only one goal in his last two starts and both of those games were on the road. Allen faces the Ducks of Anaheim and their 20th ranked offense today in his home barn. Bobrovsky will be the popular choice in cash games but lock and load Allen in your GPP lineups today.

Also Consider: Devan Dubnyk(MIN)

CENTERS

Evgeni MalkinEvgeni Malkin FD - $8900 DK - $8000
Opponent - EDM
Proj Pts FD - 18.35 DK - 5.24

This guy is on fire. Simple as that. The Oilers are ranked 10th on defense, but when a guy is on fire like Malkin is, that isn't a big deal. The Russian superstar has five goals, three assists and 12 shots on goal in his last three games. That's impressive I would say. I don't think I need to convince you any longer. I recommended him on Wednesday against Winnipeg and he came through in a big way, so he is an elite play in all formats again this evening.

PP Stack With: Phil Kessel, Sidney Crosby

Connor McDavidConnor McDavid FD - $8700 DK - $8200
Opponent - PIT
Proj Pts FD - 17.8 DK - 5.06

There is very little value today in the lower tiers at the center position, so we need to spend up a bit and save money elsewhere, but we should always consider "McJesus" every time the Oilers play. I didn't name him that by the way. Edmonton fans did. The young star was held pointless last time out, but he was on a five game point streak before that. During those five games he had two goals and five assists. The Penguins have been vulnerable on defense lately as they've allowed nine goals in their last three games. McDavid only has three shots on goal in his last two games, so he's not the safest play in the world, but I believe that he's a great play for your GPP lineups this evening.

Stack with: Jordan Eberle, Patrick Maroon

Brandon DubinskyBrandon Dubinsky FD - $5300 DK - $4900
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 9.68 DK - 2.85

This pick isn't for the faint of heart. Nobody from the Blue Jackets offensive corps is safe at the moment. They are scoring a few goals, but coach Torts is spreading the ice time around like a jigsaw puzzle. On that note though, Dubinsky plays on a line with Cam Atkinson, so he has huge upside potential on any given day and today the 'Jackets play the Sabres and their 20th ranked defense. Dubinsky has an assist in each of his last two games. Not flashy at all, but he can go off at any time and is a good GPP play today.

Stack with: Cam Atkinson, Boone Jenner

WINGERS

Patrick KanePatrick Kane FD - $8600 DK - $8000
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 17.92 DK - 5.16

Richard PanikRichard Panik FD - $4700 DK - $5300
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 10.76 DK - 3.26

I am mentioning these guys together because they play on separate lines in Chicago. Kane is obviously more talented than Panik, you wouldn't know that by the way the latter has been playing lately. We need exposure to the Blackhawks today as they are playing the Redwings and their awful 26th ranked defense. Yes, I know that the Hawks were blanked by the Ducks last night, but any goalie can stand on his head once in a while. Look for Chicago to be firing on all cylinders this evening. Kane was held pointless last night, but he fired six shots on goal. He has five goals in his last four games to go along with 19 shots on goal. Panik, on the other hand, has been turning heads this year while playing on the top line with Jonathan Toews. Panik has five goals and seven assists in his last 10 games. He has also been seeing an ample amount of powerplay time with the Hawks. To start off my cash game lineups this evening, I am locking both of these guys in and I will also be using them heavily in my GPP lineups.

Stack with: Jonathan Toews

Vladimir TarasenkoVladimir Tarasenko FD - $7900 DK - $7000
Opponent - ANA
Proj Pts FD - 14.89 DK - 4.6

If we want to take down a tourney or two today, we need a guy who won't he highly owned but has a tremendous amount of upside every time he hits the ice. The Ducks shut out the Hawks last night, but that can happen to anyone now and then. Tarasenko has a goal and six shots in his last two games and he has hat-trick upside every single game he plays. He's never a "safe" play but he is an elite GPP play this evening against the Ducks.

Stack with: Jaden Schwartz, Alex Steen (PP)

DEFENSEMEN

Duncan KeithDuncan Keith FD - $5700 DK - $5500
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 11.29 DK - 3.72

This guy isn't flashy, but he gets the job done for Chicago and we need heavy exposure to the Hawks tonight like I mentioned earlier. Keith averages around 25 minutes of ice time per game and he plays on the #1 powerplay. He has three assists, 12 shots and six blocks in his last four games, so he's steady as a rock for your cash game lineups and anyone who plays for Chicago always has massive upside potential.

Mark StreitMark Streit FD - $3800 DK - $4200
Opponent - EDM
Proj Pts FD - 8.46 DK - 2.74

This guy has been in every one of my columns since he was traded to Pittsburgh and he hasn't disappointed. The former Flyer had two assists last game to give him a goal, three assists, nine shots and three blocked shots since joining the Penguins three games ago. As long as Kris Letang is injured, Streit is an elite play in all formats.

Also Consider: Aaron Ekblad (Fla)

  1. You are terrible buddy… Let’s name all the high price players at every position. Then you suggest Dubynk, who just played last night and has lost the last 3 of 4…. I’m going with Kuemper

  2. Nick, if you read my articles regularly, I almost always give you more value plays than expensive plays. We need to spend up at center today because of the lack of value at that position. I put also consider Dubnyk, but with Kuemper playing, then I’ll consider him, but that’s all. I am all in on bobrovsky and Allen. If you lock panik and streit in, then you can afford a couple of big name guys. Thanks for reading though.

    • Hell yes Ryan, I understand. Good shit. I just don’t understand why you need to name the obvious, Malkin, Mcdavid, etc, when you could go deep and request someone cheaper ie: Bonino or Gagner

  3. Thanks for the feedback Nick. I understand where you are coming from. I recommended the top centers because I didn’t like any of the other ones. Bonino had a hat trick last game vs the Jets but he is very hit and miss and Gagner plays 4th line. They’re ok gpp plays I my opinion but that’s about it. It’s all about ice time and opportunity.

  4. I just don’t understand ice time, or in b-ball time on Court. If a guy isn’t producing, ie, Fournier, why do you guys keep pushing them? Love what you do here though and really appreciate the advice, sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.

  5. PS, sorry about the assness in my first post

  6. that’s ok Nick I understand where you were coming from and I took note of what you said. It made sense. I will keep trying to get better and find more value picks. We like to give you a couple of top end guys and a value guy at each position. If I didn’t like the top guys, I wouldn’t recommend them. But McDavid and Malkin have too good of matchups to pass up this evening. I guess we will find out if I’m right or not. Thank you for your input and feel free to comment any time.

  7. oh and by the way I’m a hockey referee and a baseball umpire so it takes a lot to offend me. I call that contructive criticism. sometimes I may be terrible i agree. but my goal is to be good slightly more often than bad. Wow , Gagner and Bonino both have goals so far. nice work 🙂
