Donovan Mitchell was a popular play for that game and should be again here. He only got 22 minutes because the game was well over by the start of the fourth quarter, but he still finished with 22 points, four assists, and three rebounds. That’s on the very low end of expectation here against the best DFS matchup around, with Washington ranking dead last in defense and first in overall pace. Blowout risk for sure, but Mitchell is still a cash game play easily. Trae Young FD - $10200 DK - $10100Opponent - INDProj Pts FD - 54.09 DK - 59.61 DraftKings and FanDuel don’t agree on the same games for the main slates, but luckily some of the best matchups are all happening on the earlier side. Trae Young and the Hawks take on the Pacers with a game total sitting in the 262 range. This one should be a total track meet with very little defense to speak of. Trae is averaging 28 points a game, shooting 38% from three, and Quinn Snyder has been fine running him close to 40 minutes a game if things stay close. He’s expensive, but the floor is so high because of the game environment. Terry Rozier FD - $9000 DK - $8400Opponent - CHIProj Pts FD - 41.87 DK - 45.36M He isn’t as good as the two guys above, but on FanDuel, he’s coming considerably cheaper and has the potential to put up a ton of shots in this game. Chicago is a middling defense, with Rozier putting up 20+ shots in five of his last six games. There’s still no LaMelo Ball, so the offense is running through Scary Terry, and over the last six, he’s averaged more than seven assists per game as well. If the Wizards could just keep things close then Tyus Jones (FD 6600 DK 5800) would look like a great value....

With Darius Garland out of the mix, Mitchell is shouldering almost all of the lead guard duties, running the point and putting up a ton of shots. He’s taken 21 or more shots in each of his last six games, averaging 30 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in that stretch. It’s on par with the best in the game, made even better when you remember that he faces the Washington Wizards tonight. The Wiz are the worst defense in the league and they run the fastest pace. There’s a reason you’ll see a bunch of Cavs in this article today. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander FD - $11500 DK - $10500Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 61 DK - 61.5 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is playing like a guy who wants to, and should, be in the MVP discussion. He just dropped a 36/7/6 line against the Celtics on Tuesday and is averaging 31.4 points, 6.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. He’s been amazing, one of the best fantasy producers around. Now he’ll face off against the Hawks who run the fifth-fastest pace and play the third-worst defense. It’s not quite as great as facing the Wizards, but it’s close. Kyrie Irving FD - $8300 DK - $8300Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 44.38 DK - 46.94 The Mavericks were crushed by the Jazz in Kyrie Irving’s first game back from injury, an unwelcome sign for Dallas fans for sure. But I think we can consider rostering him here, especially on FanDuel with the expectation that the minutes will increase for this game. Plus, he gets a good matchup against the Blazers. Irving scored 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and added four assists in his first game back, a great sign from a fantasy per-minute scoring basis. He might not be a popular play because he’s sharing the court with Luka, but I think there’s value here. Small Forward Max Strus FD - $6600 DK -...

Over the last month, he’s averaged 37.5 points, 11.1 assists, and 8.9 rebounds in just a hair under 40 minutes per game. Almost one else has this kind of floor on a nightly basis, and, at this point, it makes sense to just find the cheap plays and roster Luka in about any situation. Of course, that’s a bit of an overstatement, but in this matchup against the Jazz, it rings true. Even with Kyrie Irving projected to return tonight, running Luka against a bottom-third defense playing a top-third pace makes a lot of sense. Tyrese Haliburton FD - $11000 DK - $10300Opponent - MILProj Pts FD - 54.69 DK - 59.49 Speaking of being on another level, Tyrese Haliburton has put up some eye-popping lines over the last couple of games. In fact, he’s had two 20-20 games in a row with 22 points and 23 assists against the Knicks and 21 points and 20 assists against the Bulls. Those are video game stats for sure, and things could continue here. We know the Bucks don’t have great guard defense, and Hailburton carved these guys up for a 27/15/7 line during the In-Season Tournament. There’s a world where you can roster both Luka and Hali in cash, though it’s a bit easier on DraftKings than on FanDuel. Andrew Nembhard FD - $5300 DK - $5300Opponent - MILProj Pts FD - 27.73 DK - 30.09 Nembhard was a chalkier play last time out when the Pacers faced off against the Knicks, and he definitely paid that one off. The combo guard played 36 minutes, took 10 shots, finishing with a 14/5/5/2 line when it was all said and done. They’ll need his defense here against Damian Lillard, so I expect him to get a lot of burn once again. The middle-tier pricing helps round out lineups. He’s also dialed up the assists as well and it just essentially the offensive hub for this team right now. The price is climbing, but in a matchup against the Jazz, it isn’t all the way there and he can still be played in cash games. Fred VanVleet FD - $8400 DK - $8600Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 42.21 DK - 45.36 The Rockets get one of the best DFS matchups around, facing off against the Hawks who rank 27th in defensive efficiency and third in pace. It should be a massive uptick for the Rockets guys here and the 235 over/under is one of the highest you’ll see Houston have all year. VanVleet is a candidate to play huge minutes in close games, having run 39+ in basically every game over the last month. Few other players have that type of floor, well, on the floor. I suspect he’s a popular play on this slate because of the matchup. Considerations: Alex Caruso (FD 5300 DK 5100) could be in play here seeing as how value plays might be few and far between. Pricing has tightened on both sites and guys in this $5K range who play 30+ minutes are looking a bit more valuable now. We are going to mention other Rockets and along with them, Jalen Green (FD 6200 DK 6400) is definitely in play against the Hawks. Small Forward DeMar DeRozan FD - $8100 DK - $8100Opponent - LALProj Pts FD - 42.81 DK - 44.22 Without Zach Lavine the Bulls are still relying on DeMar DeRozan a ton and he comes in with a higher floor on a near-nightly basis at this point. The game has the highest over/under (244) of the slate by a wide margin and when it comes to scoring, this could be the spot. Of course, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the main attraction here, averaging 30.4 points and 6.2 assists on the season along with 3.7 steals + blocks. The defensive stats give him a high ceiling on FanDuel with the minutes among the best in the league when games are close. This is likely where to start cash game builds in the upper tier and he could see a lot of ownership on both sites even with the understanding that he’s very expensive. Anfernee Simons FD - $8300 DK - $7800Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 48 DK - 52.4 One caveat I have with Anfernee Simons on this slate is that running him in cash games is under the assumption that Malcolm Brogdon continues to sit out. If that’s the case then Simons has an incredibly high floor. He’s averaged 37 minutes a game since returning from injury and in that stretch is putting up 32 points and 5.3 assists while taking close to 24 shots a contest. The usage is nuts and the minutes are there. The price hasn’t caught up really and he’s taking on a very weak Utah Jazz defensive unit. Collin Sexton FD - $5400 DK - $5700Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 28.69 DK - 31.61 Jordan Clarkson and Keyonte George are both out and that’s going to likely mean all of the minutes for Colin Sexton on Thursday. He started Wednesday’s game against the Knicks and led the team in shots with 18. Sexton finished with a team-high 26 points while adding in seven assists. Considering how short the Jazz are in guard depth and how many shot attempts are out of the lineup right now, this is a smash spot for Sexton who will likely see a lot...

Neither is priced like they are taking over the offense and don’t have the salaries requisite with the Lakers sitting their two stars. We’ll likely be stacking the Lakers across the board in this game against the Spurs who have a bottom-five defense. Expect both Russell and Reaves to be massive chalk on this slate. This isn’t one we have to think too hard about. Jalen Brunson FD - $7800 DK - $8200Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 43.57 DK - 47.05 The Knicks get a potentially great matchup against the Jazz here and seeing as how Utah appears fully in the tank, there hasn’t been much resistance from them at all of late. We’ve seen a bit of a price dip on Brunson in the short term with the scoring down some. But he’s had some slower matchups against the Raptors and a game against the Celtics in there. This is a total get-right spot for a guy averaging close to 25 points and 5.6 assists on the season. As long as the minutes are there then Brunson is a high floor cash game play. Small Forward Scottie Barnes FD - $8900 DK - $8600Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 52.79 DK - 54.69 The Raptors take on the Hawks on Wednesday, and this game has the third-highest over/under total on the slate, which is really saying something, considering Toronto is involved with the game.
