Pitchers Framber Valdez FD 10700 DK 10700 Opponent - CHC (Jameson Taillon) Park - CHC FD - 37.64 DK - 19.79 We get a very appealing pitching slate tonight as there are three big favourites, two of them at home, and all three in different price ranges. Let's start at the top with Framber Valdez who is coming off his best start of the season going eight innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out 12 with zero walks. For the season, he has held opponents to two or fewer earned runs in six of eight starts and enters with an impressive 2.38 ERA/2.60 xFIP. The Cubs offence has dropped off some after a hot start and they are striking out 25% of the time over the last two weeks. All things considered, Valdez is my top pitcher on this slate. Michael Wacha FD 9200 DK 7800 Opponent - KC (Brad Keller) Park - KC FD - 27.91 DK - 14.51 For value, as a SP on DraftKings, I will be turning to Michael Wacha who comes in as the biggest favourite(-212) on the slate. After a rough stretch where he 21 hits and 12 earned runs across two starts, Wacha has really bounced back allowing just nine hits and four earned runs over his last three starts while giving us quality starts in two straight. He now faces a bottom-10 offence in the Royals who are also considerably worse against right-handed pitching(.294 wOBA/81 wRC+). Wacha is my favorite SP2 option on DraftKings and a GPP pivot on FanDuel. Catcher/First Base Christian Walker FD 3500 DK 4500 Opponent - OAK (Drew Rucinski) Park - OAK FD - 13.07 DK - 9.83 The bats are also in a great spot tonight with seven teams sitting with 5+ implied runs and the Diamondbacks are my favourite from a PTS/$ standpoint. There are one of the surprises early in the season as they are five games over .500 and their offence is Top 5 in runs scored and Top 10 in almost every advanced metric, as well. For Walker, he has cooled off a bit in the short-term but has been very productive overall with nine home runs and 28 RBI and has seven multi-hit efforts in his last 15 games. Fire up Walker in all formats. Also Consider: Spencer Steer(CIN) as a punt option who gets to hit in...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Saturday 5/6/23(Main Slate)

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Saturday 5/6/23 Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB, NBA, PGA, NHL, and NFL optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Alex Cobb FD 8300 DK 9000 Opponent - MIL (Colin Rea) Park - MIL FD - 34.99 DK - 19.06 It is definitely not the best slate for pitching so we will start with one of the system's top plays in terms of PTS/$ value. Alex Cobb may only have one win on the season but is off to a fantastic start posting a 2.43 ERA backed up by a 2.98 xFIP and while he isn't an elite K guy, he has struck out seven or more batters in two of his last three starts. He comes into this one as a -174 home favourite facing a Brewers team that is league-average vs righties(.326 wOBA/103 wRC+) but has really struggled over the last two weeks with a combined .290 wOBA and 78 wRC+. Fire up Cobb in all formats. Also Consider: Spencer Strider(ATL) who has ridiculous strikeout upside(41% K rate) but comes with a  sky-high price tag and faces an Orioles team that is 6th in runs scored on the season Catcher/First Base Vinnie Pasquantino FD 3300 DK 3600 Opponent - OAK (Ken Waldichuk) Park - OAK FD - 15.07 DK - 11.4 Salvador Perez FD 3400 DK 4200 Opponent - OAK (Ken Waldichuk) Park - OAK FD - 13.3 DK - 10.14 Despite sitting with the two worst records in the majors, the Royals and A's lead the way in terms of Vegas total(10.0) today after combing for 18 runs last night. The Royals are higher on our projections today sitting at #1 in implied runs and they have earned it scoring an average of 6.3 runs per game over the last week. The Pasquatch has played a huge part in the offence recently with hits in five straight, including four doubles and a home run, averaging 14 DK/18.9 FD points per game. It's a lefty/lefty matchup but I am not worried as he has tallied an impressive .397 wOBA/152 wRC+ in the split. For Perez, he is one of the highest power upside catchers in the game who is starting to really heat up. He comes into Saturday with hits in eight of his last nine games including four multi-hit efforts, four home runs, and averaged 12.6 DK/16.8 FD points per game. At their prices, I will be stacking 3-4 Royals in my lineup in all formats. Also Consider: Ryan Noda(OAK) on the other side of this game...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Early Shohei Ohtani FD 11500 DK 11100 Opponent - OAK (JP Sears) Park - OAK FD - 43.72 DK - 24.49 On a very weak slate for pitching we will be loading up with one of the best in the game and arguably ever(too early??) in Shohei Ohtani. He is coming off his best start of the season holding the Royals to two hits while striking out 11 and the cupcake schedule continues as he faces the A's for the second time after holding them scoreless and striking out 10 on opening day. The A's are also a bottom-five offense against right-handed pitching(.286 wOBA/86 wRC+/24.8% Krate). All things considered, Ohtani is once again an elite play in all formats. Now let's find some value! Also Consider: Both pitchers in the SEA/PHI game are in play but I like the savings with the home side and Matt Strahm(PHI) who has provided a ton of upside coming off an 11-K effort and has an elite 38% K rate and 15.4% whiff rate on the season Main Shane McClanahan FD 11300 DK 10000 Opponent - CHW (Dylan Cease) Park - CHW FD - 38.79 DK - 21.6 We have a little bit more of a decision to make on the main slate with three aces on the mound but it's Rays ace who is jumping off the page. In his third season in the league, he continues to get better in every area and enters the night 4-0 in five starts while allowing just six earned runs(1.86 ERA). He has not only been consistent and has provided a high floor, but he also has huge upside with a 32.5% K rate that could be higher based on his ridiculous 20.3% whiff rate. If you are not sold yet he also gets an elite matchup against a White Sox team that has been shut out in back-to-back games and has lost seven straight while scoring just 2.1 runs per game. McClanahan is my top pitcher in all formats on the main slate. Also Consider: Joey Lucchesi(NYM) who looked terrific in his first start of the season going seven innings allowing four hits, no earned runs, and striking out nine Giants in a win. Catcher/First Base Early Carlos Santana FD 2900 DK 3600 Opponent - LAD (Julio Urías) Park - LAD FD - 7.74 DK - 5.8 The Pirates have been an incredible story to start...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Charlie Morton FD 9800 DK 8600 Opponent - MIA (Bryan Hoeing) Park - MIAFD - 38.07 DK - 20.57 Charlie Morton, a reliable veteran presence on the mound, is starting against the Miami Marlins. With a solid 3.22 ERA in 2023, Morton brings stability and experience to the Braves. In 2022, he pitched 172 innings, holding a 4.343 ERA and striking out 205 batters. The Marlins come into this matchup with a 27.1% strikeout rate, offering Morton a great chance to rack up some Ks. As a -243 moneyline favorite, he's expected to pick up the win. Despite his slightly inflated WHIP (1.61), Morton remains a strong option for daily fantasy players, especially given his history of high strikeout numbers. His DK price offers particularly good value. In this favorable matchup against a strikeout-prone Marlins team, don't hesitate to roster Charlie Morton as a solid pitching choice. Eric Lauer FD 9300 DK 8800 Opponent - DET (Spencer Turnbull) Park - DETFD - 34.03 DK - 17.85 Eric Lauer faces off against the Detroit Tigers, looking to build on his solid 2022 season, where he posted a 3.69 ERA and struck out 157 batters over 158 innings. In 2023, Lauer has a 4.3 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched, offering potential for a good fantasy outing. With an opponent strikeout rate of 28.1%, Lauer has a favorable matchup to accumulate strikeouts. Additionally, as a -176 moneyline favorite, there's a strong chance for a win, which is vital for fantasy points. Lauer's WHIP of 1.26 this season shows he's been relatively effective at limiting baserunners. While Lauer's price may seem a bit high, his matchup against a high-strikeout Detroit team offers considerable upside. If you're looking for a pitching option with solid strikeout potential and a decent chance for a win, don't hesitate to consider Eric Lauer in your daily fantasy lineups. Catcher/First Base Vladimir Guerrero Jr. FD 4000 DK 5700 Opponent - CHW (Mike Clevinger) Park - CHWFD - 13.99 DK - 10.53 Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the Toronto Blue Jays' star first baseman, faces off against Mike Clevinger and the Chicago White Sox. With an impressive 2022 season, Guerrero Jr. posted 32 home runs, an .819 OPS, and 8 stolen bases. In 2023, the superstar continues to perform well, tallying 5 home runs, 13 RBIs, and a .935 OPS. His 2023 BABIP of .333 is consistent with his...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Spencer Strider FD - P 11200 DK - RP 10900 Opponent - MIA (Edward Cabrera) Park - ATL FD - 43.94 DK - 24.98 Strider is one of the first pitchers to reach this elite tier of pricing and it's easy to see why. After an impressive rookie season, he has picked right up where he left off with a 2.45 ERA/3.08 xFIP over four starts while allowing just 12 hits across 22 innings pitched. Not only has he provided some safety in terms of going deep and limiting hits, but he has also provided elite upside with a league-leading 41% K rate. He and the Braves are -240 home favourites against a Marlins team that has been below-average overall(.309 wOBA/93 wRC+/23.6% K rate) and against right-handed pitching(.302 wOBA/89 wRC+/24.3% K rate). Strider is worth every penny and our top pitcher in all formats on Monday. Colin Rea FD - P 7200 DK - RP 7000 Opponent - DET (Matthew Boyd) Park - MIL FD - 30.6 DK - 16.11 The Brewers are set to give the ball to Rea for a third time this season as he acts as a stop-gap while the team deals with multiple injuries to their rotation. He has looked very solid in his first two starts allowing one earned run and striking out six Padres and looked much better than the numbers showed against Seattle thanks to one bad inning in the middle of the outing. The options are limited for value on this main slate so let's target this strong matchup against the Tigers who are bottom 3 in almost every hitting category including the second-worst K rate(26.1%) in the league. Catcher/First Base Vladimir Guerrero Jr. FD 3900 DK 5700 Opponent - CHW (Lance Lynn) Park - CHW FD - 13.21 DK - 9.94 The Jays' offence has surprisingly only been league-average thus far but is definitely capable of big things with one of the deepest lineups in the league. They are second in implied runs on Monday and at a tougher position for fantasy, I am going to be paying up for Vlad Jr. who appears to be on another quest for the American League MVP(runner-up in 2021). He is coming off a series with the Yankees where he recorded hits in all three games including two home runs and moved his average up to .341 on the season with a...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Jacob deGrom FD 10600 DK 10100 Opponent - KC (Jordan Lyles) Park - KC FD - 42.45 DK - 24.63 After struggling in his first start with his new team, deGrom bounced back in a big way and returned to elite status. He went six and seven innings allowing three earned runs but more importantly, has struck out 20 and walked just two in those starts with an insane 21% swinging strike rate. He now gets an elite matchup against the Royals' team that ranks 29th in wOBA(.273), 30th in wRC+(65), and 29th in strikeout rate(26%). Everything lines up for a dominant start and he is easily our top starting pitcher in all formats. Jack Flaherty FD 8300 DK 7800 Opponent - ARI (Merrill Kelly) Park - ARI FD - 29.24 DK - 15.44 It has been a very interesting start to the season for Flaherty after missing most of last year with an injury. Despite walking an incredible 13 batters over his first two starts, he was able to contain the damage and only allowed two earned runs combined. He now appears to have the control issues figured out as he went into Coors and struck out six while walking one, and allowed just one earned. The price goes up slightly but he also gets a plus home matchup against the Diamondbacks who are 24th in wOBA(.308)and 26th in wRC+(85) on the season. Flaherty is my favourite PTS/$ SP2 on this slate. Also Consider: Corbin Burnes(MIL) who bounced back in a big way his last start going 8 IP, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out eight. Tougher matchup against a tough Mariners team but he is massively underpriced on DraftKings  Catcher/First Base Nathaniel Lowe FD 3300 DK 4400 Opponent - KC (Jordan Lyles) Park - KC FD - 11.11 DK - 8.45 The position is loaded with elite, high-upside plays and Cron is likely the chalk at home in Coors but I am going with a more balanced approach to help me get to two top pitchers. Lowe may lack the overall upside of those priced above him but he has been very consistent to start the season and enters tonight with hits in 11 straight games including eight extra-base hits. He now gets a plus matchup against Jordan Lyles who has given up 16 hits and nine earned runs in his last two...
