The biggest issue in this game will be the reliability around minutes from both teams. On the Milwaukee side, they will play tighter rotations in close games, but are happy to cede playing time late to the bench if the game is out of hand. Then there are the Knicks who will buzz off starter minutes with the best (worst) of them. It makes for plenty of DFS risk on both sides of this matchup. Giannis Antetokounmpo FD - $11500 DK - $10700 Opponent - NY Proj Pts FD - 60.52 DK - 61.8 We do have Giannis as the highest-projected play on this slate and if you think he sees a full run of minutes (35+) then he has tremendous upside. He’s averaging 26 points, 13 rebounds and six assists on the season along with more than a block and steal each. The Knicks are easily the worst defensive team (and real team) on this Christmas slate and rank second to last in defensive efficiency in the league. Giannis has dominated them this season in their two meetings, averaging 32 points, 15 rebounds and five assists (one of the games was an overtime affair). The only real question about rostering the Greek Freak is whether you can afford him on a slate of games which might not feature all that much in the way of punt plays. Khris Middleton FD - $7500 DK - $6500 Opponent - NY Proj Pts FD - 37 DK - 38.45 Though this is very much Giannis’s team, there’s still something to be said for playing Middleton on this Christmas slate. He’s played 33+ minutes...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 12/23/18

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 12/23/18 It's a legitimately massive day of NBA basketball today in advance of Monday's day off. We have a number of superstars going today, a few huge totals, and interestingly, a sea of games that are totally meaningless. Let's get to it. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NBA optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with NBA? Be sure to read our free NBA Ebooks on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. Point guard Point guard is really tricky today, actually. It might lend itself more to a longer discussion rather than any specific picks, because there are a few things to look at here. Let's give you a few tiers to look at. De'Aaron Fox FD - $8200 DK - $7700Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 40.66 DK - 40.51 Kris Dunn FD - $7500 DK - $7200Opponent - CLEProj Pts FD - 37.07 DK - 37.96 Kyrie Irving FD - $9400 DK - $9000Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 45.68 DK - 46.35 The expensive guys who you may or may not be able to prioritize. They are all in very similar situations here. All three have great match-ups, and while all three are candidates to lose their minutes in games that get out of hand (for various reasons, depending on which team you are looking at), but that should be less of a concern here. Irving's a 7 point favorite, but the other two are in games with 1 point spreads. The Cleveland/Chicago game has one of the lower totals on the slate, but Dunn has paid 5x points per dollar on these prices in each of the three games that he played his full run of minutes since returning from injury. Fox has been on a tear recently, and he'll get a Pels team that has allowed the third most fantasy points per game to opposing PGs this season. This issue is not that you don't have solid options at point guard today, it's that these guys are all pretty much the same. I suppose I'd recommend Hield and Dunn here, but I don't feel any sense of conviction. Tyler Johnson FD - $4200 DK - $5300Opponent - ORLProj Pts FD - 22.32 DK - 22.47 Collin Sexton FD - $4700 DK - $4800Opponent - CHIProj Pts FD - 28.53 DK - 30.1 Ryan Arcidiacono FD - $3900 DK - $3800Opponent - CLEProj Pts FD - 23.31 DK - 23.75 The cheap and speculative guys. We've got you completely covered. Point Guard Fred Vanvleet FD - $5800 DK - $5900 Opponent - PHI Proj Pts FD - 30.38 DK - 31.1 Welcome to NBA Saturday! We have games scattered across the entire day, but have games to look at on the main slate. There is plenty of news to look for and we'll dive into a few different scenarios. Most of the news we're looking at is from Toronto. Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, and Serge Ibaka are likely out. Valunciunas is definitely out. If all four of those guys sit, there will be immense value on this Raptors team. The Sixers are a friendly match-up in general and this game will stay close, no matter who is active. Fred Vanvleet is one of the easiest plays on the entire slate and guaranteed to hit value if Lowry misses the game. He will play 30-35 minutes and has no problem being "the guy". He can put up 40 fantasy points again and nobody will blink an eye. John Wall FD - $10000 DK - $8900 Opponent - PHO Proj Pts FD - 51.47 DK - 53.07 If you insist on paying up at point guard, the optimizer is a huge fan of John Wall. He's always a bit up and down, but definitely prefers playing at home and gets to face a faster pace Suns squad. We know he's going to play his 35 minutes as long as tit stays close and he'll have the ball in his hands all day long. His price is definitely up there, but that's because he'll typically play well in good match-ups. You'll have the funds to pay up tonight and it really just depends on who you want to pay for. Personally, I like spending down at point guard, but that's only because of the strong value. Let's get to another guy who you can easily rely on to reach value in all formats. Tyler Johnson FD - $4200 DK - $5100 Opponent - MIL Proj Pts FD - 27.58 DK - 27.8 Johnson is still wildly cheap around the industry and is going to see 30+ minutes in this game assuming it stays close. He’s the...

Magic (-3.5) vs. Bulls (+3.5) DFSR Projected Score:Magic: 108.78 - Bulls: 93.19Vegas Projected Score: Magic: 103.5 - Bulls: 100DFSR Projected Total: 201.97Vegas Over/Under: 203.5DFSR Suggested Bet(s)Magic -3.5Magic -160 I'm not sure what to say about this one, to be honest. Orlando is 14-16 with a -3.9 point differential on the season, and Chicago is 7-25 with a -10.6 point differential. Orlando is still doing their best to win games, and Chicago is doing their best to acquire lottery balls. To go a little deeper, though, it can be helpful to try and figure out how and where teams are putting up their points. On the Orlando side, Nikola Vucevic is going to be returning from paternity leave, and he'll be running up against a Chicago team that's allowed the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing centers. Our system is going to give a little boost to Orlando since their best offensive player will go up against Chicago's weakest defensive link. Chicago has been a hair better at home this year, but the mismatch down low should more than account for that. Our system actually sees some blowout risk going Orlando's way here, and I've bet the Magic with the points and the money line. Jazz (2) vs. Trail Blazers (-2) DFSR Projected Score:Jazz: 105.87 - Trail Blazers: 116.38Vegas Projected Score: Jazz: 106 - Trail Blazers: 108DFSR Projected Total: 222.25Vegas Over/Under: 213DFSR Suggested Bet(s)Portland -2Over 213 We talked about this on today's podcast, but Utah's defensive reputation now officially outstrips reality. After years of being one of the 5 slowest teams in the league with the 5 best defenses, the Jazz have settled in as the 18th fastest team and the owners of the 8th best defense. Portland is playing a bottom 10 pace, but they pair that with a bottom 10 defensive efficiency. All this to say - these aren't great match-ups, but they aren't awful either. Utah has become something of a public team when it comes to betting the under, this game is kind of the inverse of the Chicago/Orlando game. Utah's most oppressive defender is Rudy Gobert, who can shut down bigs with ease. Portland doesn't really do a whole lot offensively down low, so his...

We've got you completely covered. Point Guard Fred Vanvleet FD - $5300 DK - $5500 Opponent - CLE Proj Pts FD - 33.86 DK - 34.5 Kyle Lowry’s been all but ruled out for Friday, paving the way for another round of big minutes out of Vanvleet. FVV is something of a Swiss Army Knife for the Raptors in that he grabs the start when Lowry or Leonard sit out. The former will draw the start again and gets a fantastic matchup against a defensively-challenged Cavaliers’ team. Cleveland ranks dead last in defensive efficiency this season with no real hope of improvement. There’s some blowout risk here with Toronto -12.5 home favorites so you could see more Delon Wright down the stretch. But as a mid-tier play, I’m all over FVV here. Derrick Rose FD - $7300 DK - $7200 Opponent - SA Proj Pts FD - 34.86 DK - 36.19 Jeff Teague has already been ruled out for Friday and we should get another heavy minutes night out of Rose. The latter saw massive usage on Wednesday against the Pistons with Teague out of the lineup, putting up 29 shots in the overtime loss. He has a positive net rating on the season and doesn’t do Minnesota a big disservice by playing major minutes at the one. He needs to get into the lane to be effective, and San Antonio isn’t the epic disaster on defense like they were earlier in the season. The Timberwolves are four-point road dogs in a game with a 220 over/under. Rose should see all of the run in this matchup and on FanDuel I’m fine with him in cash even with the slight price increase. It’s not as clear for me on DraftKings where his lack of three-pointers does hurt him at that price. Even against the Utah Jazz, I think you can consider Damian Lillard considering he’s been priced down in the matchup. He looks like a bargain on DraftKings at $8500 even accounting for Utah’s tougher defense. I also don’t totally mind Ricky Rubio coming back the other way against Portland. Shooting Guard DeMar DeRozan FD - $8300 DK - $8000 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 43.32 DK - 43.62 Four of the Spurs’ last five games have been blowout wins and...
