It’s the final fight in the storied career of Dan Henderson and while I don’t think we’ll see that overhand right, except for the countless replays of the first Bisping/Hendo fight, I’ll be glued to my seat for the main event. Which, by the way, is going to take place at about 5 am local time in London to keep the fights in prime time here in the U.S. It’s an interesting fact but I don’t know exactly what impact, if any, the time of day will have on anyone in the entire card. It’s a pay-per-view so naturally there are more causal players on DraftKings, which equals more money in the pool. We are still adjusting to the new scoring rules and I think the most interesting challenge of this card isn’t picking winners but finding the fighters with the most fantasy upside in those wins. It’s an important distinction, especially this week - let’s take a look at my favorite fantasy plays in each price tier. Note – I’ll be checking the comments section right until lineup lockup, so let’s get the conversation going. I mean, what’s better than talking daily fantasy?   VEGAS FAVORITE ($8,500+) Gegard Mousasi ($9,400) Vegas Line: -335 Finish Prop: -220 Career Record: 39-6-2 UFC Record: 6-3 Record In Last 5: 4-1 Strikes Landed Per Minute:  3.56 Finishes: 20 KO / 12 Sub / 29 First-Round Losses by Stoppage: 1 KO / 3 Sub Last Time Out: W, 1st Round TKO – Thiago Santos There are tons of guys in this price range who I think will win their fight, and even a few who could finish, but I think the best value in the tier lies with Gegard Mousasi. Mousasi has seen and done it all with 47 pro fights under his belt and viciously knocked out Thiasgo Santos at UFC 200. He’s a cool customer in the Octagon, is technically solid, and has one of the best chins in the division. Vitor Belfort, on the other hand, is clearly on the downswing of his career and after his TRT fueled renaissance has looked very ordinary since it was banned. Belfort will flurry early and Mousasi will either counter or...

Click Here to Purchase MMA Targets The DFS MMA world changed drastically this week. Some people thought it could be the end of MMA on DraftKings after a long delay before posting contests for UFC Fight Night 96. Instead we got an updated scoring model, the addition of a sixth roster spot, and a new live final for UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden. YES! YES! YES! Sorry, I’m just an Isles fan gearing up for hockey season. Anyway, check the link below for the recent changes. Updating Scoring Model It will be interesting to see how the new scoring model plays out as the point system now clearly puts grapplers and wrestlers more in play. I won’t be over correcting too early as there is clearly still value in looking for finishes. However, there is now more to be said for finding winners in cash games (main event stacks still in play) and if you’re stuck between two fighters, you might actually lean towards the grappler. Get it? Good. Let’s dig in to UFC Fight Night 96, the guinea pig for the new world of DFS MMA. Note – I’ll be checking the comments section right until lineup lockup, so let’s get the conversation going. I mean, what’s better than talking daily fantasy? VEGAS FAVORITE ($8,500+) Luis Henrique da Silva ($9,200) Vegas Line: -125 Finish Prop: +212 Career Record: 11-0 UFC Record: 1-0 Record In Last 5: 5-0 Strikes Landed Per Minute:  8.82 Finishes: 11 KO / 8 First-Round Losses by Stoppage: None Last Time Out: W, 2st Round TKO – Jonathan Wilson GPP Only Disclaimer. There are definitely safer plays in this price range but I love the upside of Luis Henrique da Silva. First, he is a destroyer. 11 career wins, all by knockout, including an absolutely crazy brawl to win his UFC debut against Jonathan Wilson. He landed 8.82 significant strikes per minute in that fight and from everything I’ve seen of da Silva, he is made of pure aggression…and possibly nightmares. With only one UFC fight it’s important to tread lightly in cash games as da Silva is only a -125 favorite despite having the second highest salary on the card. His opponent, Joachim Christensen, could have the advantage if the...

Click Here to Purchase MMA Targets UFC Fight Night 95 – where low level fighters get thrown to the wolves. Seriously, there are a few straight up maulings waiting to happen on this card, including in the main event where Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino should annihilate Lina Lansberg. There are three other fights that I expect to be total blowouts – it’s going to be an ugly night. From a DFS perspective, lineup construction is very challenging this week with several very high priced favorites. Where should you be looking? Let’s get to it. Note – I’ll be checking the comments section right until lineup lockup, so let’s get the conversation going. I mean, what’s better than talking daily fantasy? VEGAS FAVORITE ($10,500+) Cristiane Justino ($13,000) Vegas Line: -1300 Finish Prop: -820 Career Record: 16-1 (1 NC) UFC Record: 1-0 Record In Last 5: 5-0 Strikes Landed Per Minute:  7.69 Finishes: 14 KO / 9 First-Round Losses by Stoppage: 1 Sub Last Time Out: W, 1st Round TKO – Leslie Smith We all know it’s obvious, but you just can’t write anything about this card without talking about Cyborg. Lina Lansberg, welcome to the UFC! You get to face the scariest woman on the planet. She’s -1300…-1300!...to win and a just as insane -820 to win inside the distance. Now for the other obvious, but worse, news. Cyborg will cost you $13,000 on DraftKings. I’m going to try my best to find a way to roster her and an almost guaranteed 100+ points but you will need to pivot down to the next tier of heavy favorites if you want any kind of lineup balance. The one thing I won’t do is stack Lansberg, which I’ve heard some people talk about, because I honestly think she has a good chance of putting up 1 point and a ceiling of maybe 10 points. It's an option, but it just doesn't fit my playing style. I’m about to write my prediction below and all I can think of is Mr. T, “My prediction, pain”. Prediction: Cyborg – 1st Round TKO (I'm thinking about 17 seconds) MID-RANGE TARGET ($9,500-$10,400) Gilbert Burns ($9,800) Vegas Line: -175 Finish Prop: +170 Career Record: 11-1 UFC Record: 4-1 Record In Last 5: 4-1 Strikes Landed Per Minute:  2.01 Finishes: 3 KO...

Click Here to Purchase MMA Targets What a fantastic time to be alive - there’s basically a UFC card every week until the end of the year! Honestly, outside of the main and co-main events, UFC Fight Night 94 has a bunch of no-names, close fights, and uncertainty. But it’s a good card for the hardcore fans, like me, and those who like to make money on DraftKings, like you. This is especially true with the uptick in casual players thanks to the beginning of football season. We broke our undefeated streak last week but are still 10-1 over the last four cards and the cheat sheet paid off huge as I finished in a three-way tie in a qualifier for the $100K Rumble in Gotham event. So this week is huge, below are three fighters who will end up in my lineups, and hopefully DFSR as a representative at the first-ever MMA qualifier only event. If you want to follow along in my tiebreaker, make sure to follow me on Twitter – I’m sure I’ll be pretty pumped up. Let’s get to it! Note – I’ll be checking the comments section right until lineup lockup, so let’s get the conversation going. I mean, what’s better than talking daily fantasy?   VEGAS FAVORITE ($10,500+) Evan Dunham ($10,700) Vegas Line: -350 Finish Prop: +249 Career Record: 17-6 UFC Record: 10-6 Record In Last 5: 3-2 Strikes Landed Per Minute:  5.37 Finishes: 3 KO / 6 Subs / 4 First-Round Losses by Stoppage: 2 KO / 1 Sub Last Time Out: W, Unanimous Decision – Joe Lauzon Making your UFC debut on short notice is tough, making it against a grizzled veteran like Evan Dunham just seems plain wrong. But that’s the task in front of UFC newcomer Rick Glenn and I don’t like his chances. Dunham is on a three fight win streak, including victories over Joe Lauzon and Ross Pearson. When you look at his last three losses, you see big names like Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone, and Rafael Dos Anjos. Dunham is a legit fighter and this will be a significant step up in competition for Glenn. Though he isn’t a scary finisher, Dunham has plenty of volume at 5.37 significant strikes landed...

Daily Fantasy MMA Picks for UFC 203 – 9/10/16

Click Here to Purchase MMA Targets     UFC 203 is Saturday night and it looks to be an absolutely fantastic card from top to bottom. The main event and co-main event are heavyweight bouts, we have the debut of former WWE Superstar Phil "CM Punk" Brooks, Jessica Andrade's second fight at straweight, and the list goes on. We've also been riding quite the hot streak here at DFSR, going 8-0 over the last three cards...go ahead, scroll back and look, then read on and let's (hopefully) find some more winners and stoppages for UFC 203. Note – I’ll be checking the comments section right until lineup lockup, so let’s get the conversation going. I mean, what’s better than talking daily fantasy?   VEGAS FAVORITE ($10,500+) Mickey Gall ($11,400) Vegas Line: -485 Finish Prop: -317 Career Record: 2-0 UFC Record: 1-0 Record In Last 5: 2-0 Strikes Landed Per Minute:  2.67 Finishes: 2 Subs / 2 First-Round Losses by Stoppage:None Last Time Out: W, 1st Round Submission (Rear Naked Choke) - Mike Jackson I haven't watched pro wrestling in quite some time, but when I did I was definitely a fan of CM Punk. Here's the bad news for Phil Brooks, pro MMA is a different animal and it's one you can't just jump into and succeed. Nothing against him, I don't even blame him for cashing in on his fame, but he's probably going to get driven through by Mickey Gall. Gall himself is just a young and raw prospect, but unless his nerves get the best of him, he should make quick work of Brooks - there's simply no need to over analyze this fight. It's worth noting that Gall has a huge price tag of $11,400 but I think there are enough options out there to put him in play in all formats. Prediction: Gall - 1st Round Submission (Rear Naked Choke)   MID-RANGE TARGET ($9,500-$10,400) Stipe Miocic ($10,000) Vegas Line: -135 Finish Prop: -107 Career Record: 15-2 UFC Record: 9-2 Record In Last 5: 4-1 Strikes Landed Per Minute:  4.93 Finishes: 11 KO / 1 Sub / 7 First-Round Losses by Stoppage: 1 KO Last Time Out: W, 1st Round KO - Fabricio Werdum The heavyweight champion of the world is in action and I actually think he will be under owned. I suspect more people will...
