By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape. And a quick note: I'm posting this a little early today, but will update a bit later with news coming in. What We Know Jimmy Butler is Out This one makes things easy on some of the value plays for today. Derrick Rose takes a huge usage bump (historically and this season) when Butler is off the court. The last couple of games back this up with Rose returning to some of that MVP form on offense. He’s averaged a 24/9 and looked like the guy we’ve been waiting for. Meanwhile. E’twaun Moore had been a guy with a steady uptick in minutes this season, taking over both back up point guard and shooting guard at times. He’s logged heavy minutes without Buckets on the court and that should be the case again tonight. Neither Rose or Moore’s price has climbed to reflect their new-ish opportunity and both are cash game plays easy. Kevin Love is Probable Getting labeled probably this early in the day translates (to me at least) as a lock to play tonight. This news has a double effect in that it ticks down Kyrie and Lebron's potential usage while also increasing the likelihood the Cavs blowout the Kings. Update: Kevin Love is playing.  Tyreke is Still Out This has a fantasy impact in tournaments only for me. Cole and Holiday's value's been outstripped by a double hammer of variable minutes thanks to Gentry's "rotation" ideas and the sites catching up some in pricing. But as off board plays I don't mind taking a chance (more on Cole than Jrue) if you think the Pels can keep it close and you want to stack this game some. Ish is Starting But... He's on a minutes restriction. This makes the...

Daily Fantasy Basketball Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/6/16

Daily Fantasy Basketball Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/6/16 We're back with our daily updates article! Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape. What We Know Ian Mahinmi is IN. Adios, Jordan Hill. Myles Turner slightly downgraded. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is out. Give me all the Stanley Johnson Wrote about this is in the main picks article, but it's worth reiterating here. Johnson will probably be the most widely-owned player on the slate. It makes sense. There's good reason to believe SVG will run him major minutes in this one. Plus he was a huge start last game when he subbed for KCP and dude went parabolic. I'm guessing ownership on FD to be 80%+ at least. I've been wrong about these things before (as James will attest) but he isn't worth the fade. Trey Burke is out. Bumps for Hood and Neto We have a decent historical reference for what happens when Burke doesn't play and that came last game. He left after only three minutes because of the flu and he didn't travel with the team to Utah. Hood played 41 minutes last game and Neto played 33. That pieces together just about the 20 minutes per Burke was playing. The minutes' bump really helps both of these Jazz guys who are coming very cheap. I much prefer Hood at a shooting guard position I already planned on going cheap with. Even at a somewhat conservative 37 projected minutes he's coming into optimal lineups. If you think he plays more against a weak Phoenix team then he's becoming an "every lineup" guy. Tyreke Evans is Out. Jrue and Norris Dice Roll Time If you can figure Alvin Gentry's "process" out then let me know. I'd love to get inside that head to figure out what the hell is going on. There are times when I can't find rhyme or reason behind his rotations...

Pts - 38.02 Uncle Drew appears to be fully back at this point, to the degree that I'm not totally concerned on the back-to-back here. He has a fantastic matchup against a defensively deficient New Orleans team that ranks near the bottom of the league against about every position and a team as a whole. Irving could get buzzed on minutes and still hit value in this one. The only issue with Kyrie is the Cavs have a deep three starting on offense and it does depend somewhat on where the shots go. But his price hasn't climbed all the way back up to second tier superstar level and we still have a solid opportunity to buy. Archie Goodwin - FD 5200 DK 5900 Opponent - UTA FD Proj. Pts - 25.83 DK Proj. Pts - 26.68 Still no Brandon Knight means we still get tons of Archie. He's taken over the point guard position and done well enough to warrant a value play even as the price climbs. It's getting closer and closer to the breaking point, but even against a slower and tougher Utah squad we are still buying on him. He's playing minutes in the upper thirties while showing a knack for scoring. The Suns are a mess in general and appear fully committed to losing. But that doesn't dissuade me from this play simply because he's outstripping the prices. Norris Cole - FD 4900 DK 5900 Opponent - CLE FD Proj. Pts - 21.05 DK Proj. Pts - 22.12 Jrue Holiday - FD 7000 DK 7200 Opponent - CLE FD Proj. Pts - 30.35 DK Proj. Pts - 31.75 Do you like what's going on here? Me neither. Alvin Gentry insisting on running the hot hand (if that's even his philosophy, I'm not totally sure what his coaching strategy is) makes for projecting...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and DraftPot – 2/5/16

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and DraftPot - 2/5/16 Hey everybody! Welcome to a packed Friday edition of DFSR's world famous NBA picks. Yes, world famous. That's not hyperbole even in the slightest. There are a ton of injury things that will effect the picks. I'm going to give you the broad strokes and then we will catch everyone up with our later afternoon picks update piece that's almost as world famous as the regular picks. Let's get going. If you want to grab a free trial of the winning projections that inform each and every one of these picks, check out our lineup builder and Google Chrome extension that auto-populates your lineups into FanDuel and DraftKings. While the seasons overlap, you'll get access to our tools for the NBA, NFL, and NHL! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with NBA? Be sure to read our free NBA Ebook on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. POINT GUARD I'm finding point guard to be a mess on this slate. I hate almost every guy for some reason or another. I'll give a few guys I hate less than others, but this is a rough position tonight. Emmanuel Mudiay - FD 5200 DK 5300 Opponent - CHI FD Proj. Pts - 27.2 DK Proj. Pts - 28.3 He still has a grip on the majority of the Nuggets' point guard minutes. I'm not expecting that to change. But he's struggled from the field over the last couple of games mostly because he's not that good of a shooter. He'll get to the rack which helps, but from the outside he's a mess. The inconsistent scoring has me worried even if the minutes are right. Because the position is so tough I think I'll end up playing him a lot, but buyer beware if the shot isn't falling. Elfrid Payton - FD 5500 DK 5300 Opponent - LAC FD Proj. Pts - 26.05 DK Proj. Pts - 26.53 Oof, this one doesn't feel great either, but I'm not willing to spend too much more than this price range at PG. Orlando needs to keep this game close and Payton has to stay in Scottie Skiles' good graces. Neither is a lock to happen, but I do think Elfrid and his crazy hair see the requisite amount of run. I don't think he'll kill you at these prices even if he is chasing Paul all over the court. Ish Smith - FD 6700 DK 7100 Opponent - WAS FD Proj. Pts - 30.4 DK Proj. Pts - 31.23 This will be an up and...

Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape.   What We Know James Johnson is Out This will be the second straight game the wing has missed though I'm not sure it has a ton of fantasy impact. Last game Patrick Patterson saw some increased minutes, as did Terrence Ross. The Raptors spread the love a little too much to hone in on one particular player. Johnson isn't much of a usage guy in the starting five as it is so I don't think this one has much fantasy impact. For tournaments I might take a stab at Ross or Patterson (more on DK than anything else) because there is some sneaky upside if the minutes for either trend toward 30. But by and large I'm ignoring this situation. Terrence Jones is Out He was involved in a car accident on Wednesday and ruled out early because of it. This doesn't have enormous fantasy impact either mostly because his minutes were really all over the place after the arrival of J-Smoove. The Rockets now have redundant assets at the position (from a fantasy perspective that is) and everyone's minutes suffer. Dwight is back and Capela might play. I gave Smoove a bump in our system because, of anyone, he stands to see a tick up in playing time. But even with Dwight out last game, Smith didn't see a ton of extra run. Jose Calderon's Probable With him out of the lineup, Langston Galloway's saw the majority of point guard minutes. But that's over now that Calderon looks like he's coming back. Shots are passed around the Knicks and I am avoiding this situation completely.   What We’re Waiting to Know Will Tyreke Evans Play? This one really has a cascading effect down the Pelicans' lineup....
