Draftpot Overlay Alert! Sign up through DFSR and Get 1-Month of Premium Projections

Daily Fantasy NFL Picks for Draftpot - Week Three

Welcome to the Week 3 DFS NFL picks article for Draftpot, a brand new way to play fantasy sports. Draftpot is similar to other DFS sites except there is no salary cap restrictions. They offer two separate game types(Fan Mode/GM Mode). For NFL, Fan Mode allows you to build a roster of 1 QB,2 RB,3 WR,1 TE,2 FLEX,1 K,1 DEF without salary restrictions. You can roster anyone you want. In GM Mode, you also roster the same positions but have a Drafpot Points Per Game(DPPG) cap. Each player have a PPG value attached to their name which is a reflection of their previous 16 games played. This gives a more transparent look at player value.

When making my picks I will be looking at a multitude of information (Vegas lines, totals and player props, targets, defensive matchups, injuries, offensive line rankings and of course DPPG) to break down all the players in the pool to provide you with the best analysis possible for the slate at hand.

If you missed out on Week 2 at DraftPot, you missed out on a crazy amount of overlay. Don't worry though. They are doing it again this week with their $10 entry, $100,000 Guarantee Touchdown Fan Mode tournament. It pays $10,000 to first and is bound to have more overlay again this weekend. Get in on the action while there is still time.

To win a tournament in Fan Mode you won't be able to just pick the top players at their positions each week. You will need to differentiate yourself with some low ownership picks. One way I love doing this is picking good players who are coming off a bad to horrible week. Recency bias plays a huge part in daily fantasy and is something we can use to our advantage to gain an edge on the field in large field GPP tournaments. I feel there is a tremendous opportunity for this here in week 2 with the number of poor performances by top players last week.

Remember, in a mode like DraftPot you will need some separation from the field. Players who stand to produce big games that give you a chance to break from the pack some.

Quarterbacks

Andrew Luck - Indianapolis Colts vs. TEN (DPPG - 23.89)
He has been awful to start the year with only 3 TD and 5 INT and a 54.7 completion percentage. This will hopefully scare most people away this week and I don't blame them. I can see a turn around this week vs. the Titans. Luck has never lost(6-0) against the Titans in his 4 year career and has amassed nearly 1,500 yards. The Colts are 3.5 point favorites on the road with a total of 46. I will be looking for Luck to put up around 300 yards passing and at least 2 TD's on the day.
Russell Wilson - Seattle Seahawks vs. CHI (DPPG - 21.44)
The Seahawks have been disappointing so far this year going 0-2 on the road. They are back in Seattle for their home opener vs. a Bears team without its starting QB and their #1 WR is banged up. Not to mention the Bears defense has given up 7 passing TD's so far. Lynch is banged up so Wilson should be throwing early and often and should see around 5-10 rushing attempts as well. If you are looking for a strong stack combo, pair Wilson up with Jimmy Graham and the Hawks defense.

Also Consider: Carson Palmer - Arizona Cardinals(19.35 DPPG)

Running Backs

Le'Veon Bell - Pittsburgh Steelers @ STL (DPPG - 20.19)
He is back after a 2 game suspension and ready to face a Rams defense who have allowed 275 rushing yards in the first 2 games. He is an elite option at the RB position which is pretty muddled at the top this week with injury concerns. Bell receives the ball very well from the RB position and is a premier PPR play on Draftpot. His ownership might not be as high as one would think either as some might stay away from his first game back.

CJ Anderson - Denver Broncos @ DET (DPPG - 13.81)
He will probably be one of the lower owned RB's this week and I have yet to give up on him like many others have done. He comes into a great matchup as the Lions have allowed nearly 250 yards rushing against so far this year. Hillman had his shot to possibly take the job away but didn't really impress with a 3.6 yards per rush. This may be Anderson's last shot to remain the starter and if Denver gets back to how they played last year he shouldn't have a problem securing the job.

Also Consider: Devonta Freeman - Atlanta Falcons @ DAL (6.46 DPPG)

Wide Receivers

Julio Jones - Atlanta Falcons @ DAL (20.91 DPPG)
He is tied for 2nd in the league in targets with 26 and has made 22 receptions for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns. He catches a high majority of balls around the line of scrimmage and is elite at getting YAC as he sits 1st among WR's with 120 yards after catch. He should be covered by the much smaller Claiborne on Sunday and should be able to take advantage with around 10 catches and 80+ yards and great chance at multiple scores.

Julian Edelman - New England Patriots vs. JAX(17.76 DPPG)
He leads the league in targets and is Tom Brady's favorite weapon besides Gronk of course. The Patriots are playing with anger right now and will not let up on anyone it seems. When he gets the added TD's he becomes an elite fantasy option no matter the price. Starting your lineups with 2 PPR studs who are excellent in the YAC category will definitely give your team a high floor on Sunday.

Also Consider: Larry Fitzgerald - Arizona Cardionals vs. SF (DPPG 12.83)

Tight Ends

Jimmy Graham - Seattle Seahawks vs. CHI (DPPG - 12.69)
He is adjusting in a new role with the Seahawks and has started slow in 2015 for fantasy purposes. He is blocking a lot more as the Hawks are a run first team but this could change this week. With Lynch banged up going into a game where the Seahawks are big favorites they may choose to sit him out. This would lead to a few more targets for Jimmy as the Hawks try and get their first win of the year.

Rob Gronkowski - New England Patriots vs. JAX (DPPG - 19.32)
He is by far the best option at TE every week he suits up. He is my second choice this week because he will be very highly owned in Fan Mode and is probably best as a cash play this week. He is Brady's favorite target and a TD monster. As mention ed with Edelman, the Patriots are looking to crush everyone this year after deflate-gate. Brady and Gronk are probably thinking about the QB to TE TD record as well so you better get a piece of the action somewhere.

Also Consider - Jared Cook - St. Louis Rams vs. PIT (DPPG - 8.65)

Defenses

Seattle Seahawks vs. CHI (DPPG - 8.94)
They will get Cam Chancellor back this week for the home opener and no better tie as they com e into the is weekend with a 0-2 record. They will be playing mad this week and have a great matchup vs. a Bears team who lost their starting QB and have a their #1 WR banged up. If they can shut down Matt Forte or at least limit his YAC then the Hawks should easily put up double digit points.
Carolina Panthers vs. NO (DPPG - 7.19)
They get to face the Saints without Drew Brees. That should be enough to convince you to lock them into your lineups this week. They should also be a bit lower owned than the public heavy Seahawks. Look for the Panthers to put up multiple sacks and interceptions and an added TD would be a nice bonus as well.

Kickers

Matt Bryant - Atlanta Falcons @ DAL (DPPG - 10.63)
He is in a matchup vs. the Cowboys where he should see multiple PAT and FG opportunities with the high game total. He is averaging nearly 15 points a game so far and plays nice in either format.

Justin Tucker - Baltimore Ravens vs. CIN (DPPG - 11.06)
He is one of the best kickers in the NFL and is on a Ravens team that isn't that great in the redzone leaving him plenty of opportunities to stack up fantasy points. He has double digit points in both games to start the year and should be able to get there again against a tough defense in the Bengals.
