Daily Fantasy Baseball News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/10/16

Welcome to the daily MLB updates and news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!

Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock today.

By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the batting lineup changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!

What We Know

The Marlins and Nationals are moving yesterday's pitchers to today

Due to yesterday's rainout, the Nationals and Marlins will move yesterday's pitchers to today.

Some weather problems

We have 2 games looking extremely dangerous in NYY @ DET and CLE @ CWS. We then have 3 more games issues that need to be monitored up to lock in SD @ COL, TEX @ LAA and PIT @ CIN. Make sure you keep an eye out on twitter for updated with these games. It is especially dangerous to target these games on Fanduel as you can't move off of them if they rainout.

Tournament Stacks

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs will be a popular stack all year long and it is not a bad idea to target them while in the the second best hitters ballpark in the league. The Cubs will be facing off with Shelby Miller who has outperformed his true talent and will surely regress this year in Chase Field. The Cubs will take a crack at him here and I expect some fireworks. Miller has a career .320 wOBA to lefties which has me leaning on guys like Rizzo, Heyward, Zobrist and Fowler. I prefer targeting lefties in stacks as most bullpen pitchers are righties and will therefore lead to your hitters having + splits towards the end of the game.

Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays will finally get the match-up with a bad righty in Camden yards that I've been waiting on for 2 days. Vance Worley has a .400 wOBA to lefties over the past 2 seasons which is absolutely atrocious. My favorite part of the Rays stack is how cheap they are which will let you pay up at pitcher and your other position player spots. My 4 favorite rays are Dickerson, Morrison, Miller and Kiermaier. If you are looking to go super contrarian, I would go with the righties in Forsythe, Longoria and Jennings. They all have home run upside and will be much lower owned.

Sneaky Pitcher

Edinson Volquez FD 8100 DK 7300
Opponent - MIN (Nolasco) Park - @KC
FD - 30.44 DK - 15.31

Edinson Volquez is a complete different pitcher than he was in 2014 and the beginning of 2015. Volquez has increased the velocity on his fastball and the movement on his secondary pitches. The Twins have struggled mightily to start the year against righties and the struggles should continue today against Volquez. I expect around 6 innings, 6 strikeouts and a win out of Volquez. He is cheap enough where you can pair him up with a high priced pitcher on DK and still have the ability to pay up at a few spots.

The "Every Lineup" Guys

Brad Miller FD 2200 DK 3600
Opponent - BAL (Worley) Park - @BAL
FD - 11.14 DK - 8.86
Corey Dickerson FD 3200 DK 3900
Opponent - BAL (Worley) Park - @BAL
FD - 12.81 DK - 10.18
Logan Morrison FD 2200 DK 3700
Opponent - BAL (Worley) Park - @BAL
FD - 12.79 DK - 10.07

These guys are showing up everywhere in the optimzer and rightfully so. As mentioned above in the stacks section, Vance Worley is atrocious against lefties and will likely give up a few runs early in this game. These guys are all solid plays in both tournaments and cash games as I do not expect their ownership to be too high with a Coors Field game on the docket.

Jose Bautista FD 4400 DK 5000
Opponent - BOS (Wright) Park - @TOR
FD - 13.56 DK - 10.43

Bautista is coming off a 2 home run game and for a streaky hitter, that is a very good sign. Joey Bats has hit righties very well over his career evidenced by his 35 HR's against them just last season. Steven Wright is a very weak pitcher and Bautista could connect on another bomb today. I expect the Blue Jays offense to put up some runs today and Bautista will certainly be right in the middle of everything.

One other note: There are big differences between DraftKings and FanDuel pricing so the optimal lineups are looking quite different.

These are players that show up in each of the top 10 lineups as produced by our lineup optimizer. This doesn't necessarily mean that they're "safe," it just means that their projected weighted-mean point total is a solid building block for a great lineup foundation today.

Good luck out there today! If you want access to all of our numbers, get started with a free trial below of our lineup optimizer, on us!

  • I love Volquez today vs. Twinkies but thunderstorms are in the forecast for mid-afternoon...just hope they will hold off until 5pm or so.

  • Does the optimizer factor in the "potential" for a rainout later in the day?

    • No this is not built in. We have a weather status bar but it's not a piece of the algorithm. Weather is very much on the user end.

  • Will you add L/R bat to the player windows and create player projection sorting by early, late and all day slates?

    • In Pro version we have it set up to include or exclude games and times. Is this what you mean or something else? I'll pass along handedness to devs. Seems like an easy add. Good suggestion

  • Don't usually recommend playing 8th hitter in NL but Rosales nice punt if playing late slate

  • You're able to play Felix and Arrieta while still maximizing Coors exposure
