Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Houston Astros vs. Sean O'Sullivan (Red Sox)
Park - Fenway Park

This is going to be the highest owned stack of the day right next to the Red Sox. This game is sitting at a Coors Field-esque over/under of 11 with the Astros holding a team total of 5.60. Sean O'Sullivan is one of the worst pitchers in the entire league as evidenced by his career wOBA of .392 and an xFIP of 6.10. This Astros team is going to absolutely dominate this guy, I kind of feel bad. The wind is currently blowing out to straight center at 23 MPH and it may pick up as the day moves on. This Astros lineup is a very easy one to stack as they all have so much upside on there lonesome. When you stack them together, it can get unreal. I remember a few times last season hen I stacked the Astros, they accumulated for about 75 home runs and just get fantasy points so quickly. I could see one of those games occurring today against Sullivan. While this stack is going to cost you a pretty penny, it just might be worth it. Let's take a look at some other stack I am looking at that are a bit sneakier.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Dan Straily (Cincinnati Reds)
Park - Citizens Bank Park

This is likely going to be one of the only times I ever stack the Phillies, however, they have some guys that can get on base and a few guys that will have no problem hitting home runs with wind that is blowing out at 21 MPH. While Dan Straily is not the worst pitcher in the world, he is by no means good. over the last 3 seasons, Straily gave up a combined wOBA of .326 and a hard contact rate of 34.4% to lefties. This lineup consists of guys that can steal bases and hit home runs. I will be targeting Odubel Herrera, Maikel Franco, Ryan Howard, Andres Blanco and Freddy Galvis. Sure, some of these guys have very limited upside on their own. However, when they knock in a guy that is also on your team is a double positive. The Cincinnati Reds bullpen is pitiful and has the league's worst wOBA allowed of .362. These Phillies bats are going to go extremely low owned and have a great chance of going off. They also give you the opportunity to pay up at pitcher and other position spots.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Cesar Ramos (Rangers)
Park - Globe Life Park

It is very telling of just how many teams are in great match ups when the Blue Jays against a bad lefty is sneaky. I expect this stack to be about 10% compared to the usual 30% when the Jays face a lefty. Cesar Ramos has been horrible against righties since entering the league with a .328 wOBA and 5.07 xFIP. The team total is sitting at 5.11 and I think the Jays hit the over. This park is a hitters park and ranked in the top 10 for right handed power last season. If I had to choose 4, I would go with the big 4 in Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Troy Tulowitzki. All 4 of these guys hit lefties to a +.350 wOBA in 2015 and they are all still either improving or in their prime. Tulowitzki has turned it around over the last week or so with 3 home runs in the last 5 games. This lineup is starting to get into its old ways and you need to make sure you hop on before the rest of the world realizes it.

Some other stacks to consider - Coors Field, Red Sox, Yankees

  • Does anyone have a good lineup for today? I've been losing my ass on baseball.

    • LOL......same here....take this with a grain of salt, but I would stay the hell away from Blue Jay stacks, they ain't working! Load up on players from the Sox/Astros and keep your fingers crossed.

  • Any time the experts tell you the Blue Jays stack is gonna rake, roster that pitcher and be assured he will give up one or two runs on 5 hits.

  • Look for unconventional stacks too. I mean part of what we do is half educated and half good luck with a tinge of gambling lol. Stack against mike leake maybe?

  • I have been following this site for a couple weeks solid, all i can say is about 75% of the time, the one or two players they say must be in the lineup are solid. Whoever they say to pitch for you avoid, go with your guts on stacks. Baltimore, Boston, Houston, and anyone playing in Denver. Their pitching picks are horrible today. I would say their pitching picks are absolutely the worst, followed by their insistance to constantly stack the Jays.

  • Here is my lineup for afternoon and evening.

P - wood ( leake is also a good choice)
    P - DeRosa
    C - plawecki ( castillo or Hermann)
1B - Duda (Da Hoe Lee or Goldschmidt)
2B - Walker (Segura or Cano)
    3B - K. Seager ( Lamb)
    SS - k.Marte (A. Cabrera)
OF - Cespedes, Conforto, Trout (Aoki or Owings)
