Daily Fantasy MLB Hitter Stacks FanDuel & DraftKings 8/31/16

Welcome to our daily article breaking down some of the other stacking targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article and pitching breakdown but here we will look at other plays to consider if you're trying to win big in a large tournament.

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. Stack Targets

Boston Red Sox vs. Drew Smyly (Rays)
Park - Fenway Park

Outside of the Coors game, the Red Sox/Rays comes with the highest total on the slate. The Red Sox make an excellent stacking option at home today vs. Drew Smyly. He is an extreme fly ball pitcher and that doesn't work out very often in Fenway with the short porch in left field. The Sox currently have the top offense in baseball and are the only team to score over 700 runs on the season. They rank 3rd in wOBA(.345) and 2nd in wRC+(112) against southpaws and have a stacked lineup to choose from. I will be starting my Red Sox stacks with Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaearts and Dustin Pedroia. You can also consider David Ortiz who hits lefties pretty well or take the road less traveled and go with Hanley Ramirez

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Y. Gallardo (Orioles)
Park - Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Looking at the night slate, I love the high end stacks a ton with there being some nice value pitching options. I feel the Jays make the top option tonight as they go up against Yovani Gallardo and the Orioles. The Jays have been a top 10 team against right handed pitching this season and have been on fire lately with the 2nd best wOBA(.357) and Isolated Power(.218) over the last 14 days. Looking down the order the jays are stacked from top to bottom with Jose Bautista leading off as he appears to be getting back on track. Josh Donaldson and Edwin Encarnacion have provided MVP like numbers all season with power and run scoring upside. One of the lower owned options will be Michael Saunders who is once again red hot with hits in four straight and six of his last seven games with three doubles and two home runs. On the value end of things you can also consider Devon Travis, Russell Martin and Kevin Pillar.

Washington Nationals vs. Adam Morgan (Phillies)
Park - Citizens Bank Park

The Nationals come in as a Top 5 team against left handed pitching and have one of the best matchups of the evening slate. They are currently projected for 5+ runs as they face off with the Phillies and Adam Morgan tonight. He comes with a slightly above average K rate(7.51 K/9) while walking justt above two batters per nine. The issue for Morgan this season has been the high HR/FB rate(18.5%) which is a direct result of a 36% hard contact rate combined with a 40% fly ball rate. The nice part about the Nationals is that their best hitters against southpaws come at a nice value(Jayson Werth, Wilson Ramos, Anthony Rendon) or will be low owned in a lefty/lefty matchup(Daniel Murphy and Bruce Harper). It will also be near impossible to fade Trea Turner who is red hot with hits in eight straight games including seven multi hit efforts.

  • Keep stacking the Blue Jays some day you may be right hopefully before I run oymut of money

  • Thanks for reading @Thomas but what am I missing? They have scored 40 runs in last 5 games and have the 2nd highest wOBA in the last 14 days with a 123 wRC+? You don't like runs with your stacks?

  • Trea Turner is out of the lineup tonight. That really sucks because he was positioned for a big night.
