Daily Fantasy Baseball News & Updates for FanDuel & DraftKings - 9/23/16

Welcome to the daily MLB updates and news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!

Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock today.

By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the batting lineup changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!

What We Know

Personnel

  • After a day off Thursday and sitting out of the starting lineup in four straight games, Daniel Murphy is expected to be back in the Nationals lineup on Friday.
  • Starling Marte made his return to the Pirates lineup on Thursday and after going 1 for 1 was removed with back tightness. No further word on his status moving forward but don't expect him in the lineup Friday.
  • Athletics slugger Khris Davis has been battling a stomach bug and has missed two straight games. Stay tuned for lineups to see if he will return on Friday. If he is again out of the lineup it adds value to Cole Hamels who was discussed in the Pitcher Breakdown.
  • After finally being cleared of his concussion symptoms we can expect the Tigers Ian Kinsler to be back in the lineup Friday.
  • Kole Calhoun has been away from the team for four games as he and his wife just had a baby. He is expected back in the lineup on Friday.
  • Brandon Crawford is still considered day to day with a dislocated pinkie finger. You may want to avoid him for a game or two once he returns to see how comfortable it will be to swing.
  • It's possible Starlin Castro returns returns to the Yankees o Friday or sometime this weekend after being declared out for the season early this week.
  • Joe Mauer remains out of the lineup with quadricep soreness.

The "Every Lineup" Guys

Drew Pomeranz FD 8700 DK 8700
Opponent - TB (Archer) Park - @TB
FD - 36.57 DK - 24.12

It's a great day to save up at pitching and it the Optimizer agrees as Pomeranz shows up in ever single lineup on both sites today. The Red Sox are red hot winning eight straight and although Pomeranz has struggled lately, he has been much better away from Fenway Park. To read the complete write up on Pomeranz head back to the Main Article where he was a highlighted pick.

Mike Trout FD 4500 DK 5600
Opponent - HOU (Fister) Park - @HOU
FD - 12.97 DK - 10.29

On a day when the Optimizer loves value pitching it is no surprise to see Trout appear in all 25 lineups on DraftKings. He is the best hitter in baseball, in my opinion, and is putting up elite numbers in a less than elite lineup. He is closing the year out strong slashing .292/.434/.508 with 11 RBI and 13 runs scored in the month of September. He shows up in just 5 of 25 lineups on the FanDuel Optimizer but that doesn't mean he isn't an elite play there as well.

These are players that show up in each of the top 10 lineups as produced by our lineup optimizer. This doesn't necessarily mean that they're "safe," it just means that their projected weighted-mean point total is a solid building block for a great lineup foundation today.

Good luck out there today! If you want access to all of our numbers, get started with a free trial below of our lineup optimizer, on us!
