Daily Fantasy MLB Hitter Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings- 9/29/16

Daily Fantasy MLB Hitter Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings- 9/29/16

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Boston Red Sox vs. C.C. Sabathia (Yankees)
Park - Yankees Stadium

The Boston Red Sox are going to start us off here as our top pitcher on the slate. They will be facing off with C.C. Sabathia and the Yankees, in Yankee Stadium. C.C. Sabathia is a pitcher that some actually think is  good. However, his surface stats are held up by a lucky first half of the season. Since the All-Star Break, Sabathia has been absolutely atrocious. Against righties, he has given up 17 home runs and has supported that number with a 4.47 xFIP and a .340 wOBA. The Red Sox on the other hand, have been fantastic against left handed pitching with the best wOBA in the league at .347. Both the righties and lefties in the lineup can hit southpaws, and there will be no easy outs for Sabathia. Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts are my favorite guys, with David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez coming in as close seconds. I do expect the Red Sox to be highly owned, so the sneaky stack certainly  comes into play. Yankee Stadium is one that plays into left handed power, so the lefties definitely receive a huge bump.

Main Stack - Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez
Sneaky Stack - Xander Bogaerts, David Ortiz, Mookie Betts, Sandy Leon

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (Orioles)
Park - Rogers Centre

The Blue Jays are likely going to be one of the higher owned stacks of the day, and i'm fine with that. They are facing off with a right hander in Ubaldo Jimenez that has struggled against both sides of the plate. Against righties, he has given up a .318 wOBA alongside a 4.63 xFIP and a 31.6% hard contact rate. The Blue Jays certainly have some righties that can hit the ball hard. Against left handers, he has been even worse. Over the course of 60 innings this season, Jimenez has sported a pitiful .380 wOBA against lefties. While the Blue Jays dont have many lefties, Saunders and Carrera jump into play in both cash games and tournaments. Bautista and Encarnacion are my favorite hitters on the team, though Donaldson is right up there as well. Due to them being highly owned, you will have to change it up a little bit. This offense does spread the wealth, so the sneaky stack is definitely in play. The Rogers Centre is a hitters park and ranked in the top 10 for both lefties and righties in 2015.

Main Stack - Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Troy Tulowitzki
Sneaky Stack - Ezequiel Carrera, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Michael Saunders

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Dan Straily (Reds)
Park - Busch Stadium

The Cardinals are going to close us off here as our sneaky stack. They are at home, facing off with the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds will be trotting out Dan Straily, a right handed gas can that has found a way to get 14 wins. The fact that Dan Straily has 14 wins is pure proof that wins mean nothing. While Straily has some decent surface stats, his peripherals do a great job at telling the whole story. His xFIP against both lefties and righties sits over 5, with his hard contact rate at 31%. While the Cardinals are a pretty tough team to stack, they will occasionally put it all together and have a huge game. If that does happen, it will start with Matt Carpenter. Carpenter is the best hitter on the tea, especially against righties. I will have him in all of my stacks, and will then sprinkle in everyone else, excluding Yadier Molina and Greg Garcia. While the ballpark isn't great, this offense is not power reliant and could put up a huge game with a bunch of singles and doubles. Because the Cardinals spread production, the sneaky stack has to be in play.

Main Stack - Matt Carpenter, Aledmys Diaz, Stephen Piscotty, Brandon Moss
Sneaky Stack -Matt Carpenter, Brandon Moss, Jhonny Peralta, Randal Grichuk

  • Lol- redsox clinch last night and you are going to list them as a stack today???cwow..this site is trash anymore

  • Hey assclown....They are playing for homefield advantage. They still need to play their starters lol.

  • There have been no late updates or must starts for days now. It says above every day there will be updates or must starts. Which is it?

  • To be fair to the site, I don't think baseball is a top priority for most dfs players right now. 4.69 or over 5 xfip? Does it really matter what number is right? He's not good either way. Ps.. I enjoy the help you guys provide!
