What We Know

Damian Lillard is out against the Spurs

Lillard is officially doubtful, but fully expected to miss this one. The Spurs are a really tough match up, so we have to be picky here. C.J. McCollum is still interesting, but I will only have exposure in tournaments. His price has risen, and the floor isn't necessarily there in this match up.

Chris Paul is out against the Rockets

This one came as a bit of a surprise, and will shake things up for the night. Austin Rivers figures to benefit most, but is still not elite with J.J. Redick being listed as probable. Felton will also get some minutes, but I think Rivers is the only one to get a safe 27 minutes. He can be played in cash games and tournaments.

What We're Waiting to Know

J.J. Redick is probable against the Rockets

I was hoping he would miss this, but it doesn't look like it. Jamal Crawford gets a downgrade, and Austin Rivers has his ceiling lowered. With Chris Paul out, they are still very viable plays. Id Redick somehow misses, every active guard would be in play.

Bradley Beal is questionable

Beal is a guy who takes a lot of shots, so his absence matters. John Wall has a huge usage spike up to 32% when Beal sits, so he becomes an elite play. Sheldon McClennan would likely start, but lacks the upside and will probably not see over 30 minutes. If Beal plays, he is a GPP only play and Wall gets a small downgrade.

The "Every Lineup" Guys

John Wall

Wall against the Nets, this should be fun. Wall is a guy who relies a lot on the pace of the game, as he scores a ton of fantasy points in transition. Bradley Beal is also questionable, and Wall’s usage goes up to 32% when Beal is off the court, and averages over 1.3 FP per minute. Even if Beal plays, Wall is still a very good play in both cash and tournaments. Wall has been a stud lately, and has been over 50 fantasy points in 2 straight. He should make it 3 in a row tonight in a game that will be fast and full of points. The peripherals could go up today as well, as the Nets have given up the 2nd most rebounds/assists to point guards.

Joel Embiid

Embiid was held out last night for rest, so should be good to go tonight. He still has the 28 minute restriction, but has pushed it a few times already and went over, so it’s really a soft cap. Embiid should be able to get his own tonight in 20 minutes against a Nuggets team that has been pitiful against big men for 5 seasons now. Jokic is great on offense, but lacks footwork on defense and will have a super tough time hanging with Embiid. Embiid has a floor around 25, and a ceiling that rests around 45. You can play him everywhere, but you also might want to pay down a bit in cash games.

  • The "every lineup" section is always wrong. Picking a less talented, more expensive player whose minutes are limited in Embiid over his opponent in Jokic. Smart. Real smart. These experts need to stop relying on their algorithms and use some human intelligence instead.
