Detroit Tigers

This is a bit of a weird slate. There is a big storm going over the country and it looks like it may cause a few delays. Make sure to keep an eye out on Twitter as lineup lock approaches, as a lot can change quickly. This Tigers game looks like it should be ok, though there are slight chances of a delay. The Tigers hold one of the highest implied team totals on the day and face the worst pitcher, A.J. Griffin. Griffin has been extremely lucky this year, albeit still being horrible. He's held a .220 combined wOBA. Yes, .220. The league average is around .305 and it's a stabilizing stat, so there isn't much a pitcher can do to move that number. We are going to see regression hit Griffin like a monster very soon, and we want to be on the opposing lineup. This Tigers team is certainly explosive and can hit a ton of HR's. Miggy and V-Mart have been out, which is definitely a big hole. However, it moves up a few cheaper guys and gives them a shot at the 3 and 4 hole. The top 4 (Kinsler, Castellanos, Martinez, Upton) are definitely the best stack, though there is always merit in looking lower in the order. Alex Avila and Tyler Collins are both good against righties and will be much lower owned than the top 4. A.J. Griffin has allowed a combined .368 wOBA since last year and things seem to be on the down and down. If weather abides, the Tigers should be in for a solid showing.

Main stack - Ian Kinsler, Nick Castellanos, J.D. Martinez, Justin Upton
Sneaky stack - Ian Kinsler, J.D. Martinez, Alex Avila, Tyler Collins

Colorado Rockies

This is another game that has some rain, so keep an eye out. If it's a full-go, the Rockies are a very interesting tournament stack. Tim Adleman is absolutely HORRIBLE and I see no reason to expect improvement. He's allowed a .340 wOBA, 20 homers, and a 17% K rate through 96 innings. Great American Ballpark is a hitter haven that is extremely friendly to lefties. Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez, who are both great against righties, are my 2 favorite option. Arenado and LeMahieu are obviously solid, though they may be a bit over-owned. Ian Desmond is a guy I will make sure to have in all stacks, as he brings a terrific combo of power and speed. Adleman is also not very good at holding runners, which is a big bonus for the likes of Blackmon and Desmond. The rest of this order does have plenty of upside (Reynolds, Valaika), but are better serves as 1-offs. If you are looking to go contrarian, I don't think you need to go crazy here. There are a lot of solid offenses on the day and I wouldn't expect the Rockies to be over 15 or 20% owned. While the Tigers are a stack I will use in cash games, the Rockies are a bit too volatile. Either way, both of these offenses are in a good spot and can bring you to the top of tournaments.

Main stack - Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Arenado, Carlos Gonzalez, Ian Desmond
Sneaky stack - Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Gonzalez, Ian Desmond, Pat Valaika
