St. Louis Cardinals vs. Scott Feldman(CIN)

If you read the main article today, you already know my main stack for the day is going to be the Diamondbacks. I won't go into detail as I pretty much listed a D-Back at every position. Instead, I turn to the Cardinals on the early slate who sit just a quarter of a run behind the D-Backs in implied runs and could come a tick lower owned today. The fact they have been a below average offense this year might also sway some people away but the lineup they put out is legit, well at least at the top. Matt Carpenter is once again hitting leadoff after being moved there last night. He responded with a home run so hopefully, it will light a fire under their expected offensive leader and help bring the team out of a six-game losing streak. Today they Scott Feldman who has been nothing more than just an average pitcher in his career. He strikes out right around league average batters per nine but has always had issues with the long ball(15.1% HR/FB rate this season), and that is what we are looking for when stacking teams. The other good news is that the Cards are a much cheaper option than the Tigers or Diamondbacks.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Joe Ross(WSH)

Speaking of pitchers who give up home runs and present a ton of upside to stack against, I present Joe Ross. In his third major-league season, he has seen a slight bump in his K rate(8.5 K/9) and a slight decrease in his walk rate, which on the surface looks great but hold on to that optimism. He has also seen a huge jump in the hard contact rate against(39.4%) which has led to him giving up five-plus earned runs in four of his six starts and at least one home run in all six. The only downside to the Orioles is that they are likely without Manny Machado for a few days as he injured his wrist last night but they have enough power throughout the lineup(Jones, Trumbo, Davis) to put up a lot runs today.
