If you are not fully trusting Bumgarner tonight on his second start off the DL, Severino makes a great pivot on both sites. You don't get a whole bunch of saving on DraftKings($800) which should help keep him even lowered owned and on FanDuel the savings are quite significant($1,800) which should help you load up on bats. There is definitely risk like any other pitcher Thursday but there is also enough upside to warrant a roster spot. Even with five blow up games where he has allowed 4+ earned runs, he has kept his ERA at 3.40 with an even better 3.11 xFIP. For fantasy, the upside comes with his electric fastball that has helped him to a career high 10.29 K/9 rate and elite 12% swinging strike rate. He gets a park boost going into Seattle but more risk comes with that as the Mariners have not struck out a whole bunch lately but everything on Thursday smells of GPP only.

The chalky SP2 option tonight will be McCarthy tonight as the Dodgers are currently the biggest favorite of the day. This and the fact he sits in the mid $6K range on DraftKings have him topping the PTS/$ values tonight. There is not much upside to speak of with McCarthy who has not struck out more than four batters in six straight starts but he has been consistent allowing more than two earned runs just twice in his last nine starts. It's much more about being able to roster Bumgarner or Severino on DraftKings and still being able to load up on bats tonight.
