Pitchers

Zack Godley FD 9400 DK 10500
Opponent - COL (Bettis) Park - @ARI
FD - 33.56 DK - 17.01

If you are playing the all day slate and targeting some early pitchers there are a few options if you are not comfortable with Luke Weaver's season-high salary. Pomeranz and the Red Sox are big favorites(-200) but I prefer Zack Godley despite the downgrade in park and at least on the surface, the matchup. The D-Backs face the Rockies as both teams try to hold down the NL Wildcard spots with just two weeks to go. There are a couple things I like about this matchup starting with the fact that Zack Godley has been good at home with a 3.41 ERA and has limited opponents to a minuscule .262 wOBA and .177 average. Then you add the fact the Rockies have been much worse on the road(.305 wOBA, 83 wRC+) and you have a high floor play today. Godley also gives us access to some nice upside as well with a 9.6 K/9 rate and elite 13.7% swinging strike rate.

Also Consider: Drew Pomeranz(Early Only)

Masahiro Tanaka FD 9000 DK 9700
Opponent - BAL (Miley) Park - @NYY
FD - 33.98 DK - 18.03

The system is really high on Tanaka tonight and it has everything to do with the upside he provides. He enters tonight's matchup with a crazy 14.5% swinging strike rate which has translated into a 9.4 K/9 rate for the season, up almost two full strikeouts per nine from last season. There is, however, some risk with the pick as he is coming off a terrible start in which he gave up seven earned runs but before that he had held opponents to three or fewer earned runs in six straight with a 10 and 14 K performance mixed in. The other risk here is that Baltimore has had his number this season(10 ER in 10.1 IP) but it's a small sample size and doesn't completely factor into my decision. I think there are some safer options if you are playing cash games but love Tanaka's upside for GPP formats tonight.

Also Consider:  Brad Peacock(HOU)
