Hello hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action at DFSR. TGIF and today we have a nice little five game slate in store for you, so let's not waste anymore time and dive right into the picks shall we?

Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

GOALIE

Sergei Bobrovsky FD - $9200 DK - $8000
Opponent - NYR
Proj Pts FD - 17.9 DK - 4.47

The current Vezina trophy winner is off to a great start so far this season as he's allowed only one goal in two starts while stopping 66 of 67 shots. The Rangers were ranked 4th offensively last season with 3.09 goals scored per game, but they are ranked 17th in that category with 2.5 goals for per game to start the year. Honestly, I'm not sure fading goalie Bob is a good idea this evening. He is obviously dialed in at the moment and he is an elite play in every single format.

Marc-Andre Fleury FD - $8300 DK - $8100
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 14.32 DK - 3.58

This guy deserves a ton of credit. Las Vegas is not supposed to be 4-0 to start the season, so the so-called experts say. Fleury is 3-0 to start the season while allowing only four goals in the process. That is good for a .963 save % and a 1.32 GAA. The Red Wings are off to a 3-1 start, but that is mostly due to their stellar goaltending, as they're ranked a below average 17th in goals scored with 2.75 per game. I am not shying away from Bobrovsky in cash games, but for your GPP lineups, Fleury is a great play.

CENTERS

Rickard Rakell FD - $6500 DK - $6700
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 14.05 DK - 3.96

I like targeting a visiting team's second line center while playing on the road because the home team gets the last choice of line changes. What this usually means is that the home team will try and shut down the top line. Well, Rakell centers Anaheim's second line and he's off to a pretty good start with two goals, two assists and 17 shots on goal in four games. The Avalanche are actually ranked an impressive 5th overall in goals allowed per game after four games,(2.25) but I can't see them maintaining this kind of production as they were awful in almost every single category last season. From a PTS/$ perspective, Rakell is my favorite play in all formats this evening.

Stack with: Jacob Silfverberg, Andrew Cogliano

Matt Duchene FD - $4900 DK - $5100
Opponent - ANA
Proj Pts FD - 11.49 DK - 3.19

My second center pick wasn't the easiest choice, but I decided to side with Duchene, who is off to a fairly decent start in 2017. His team is ranked 6th best in goals scored per game (3.75) to start the year and he centers the second line while scoring two goals to go along with three assists and nine shots on goal in only four games. The center position is very thin today, so we will make due with what we have and at these prices, I like Duchene in all formats.

Stack with: Nail Yakupov, Alexander Kerfoot

Also Consider: Sean Monahan (Cgy) (GPP ONLY)

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin FD - $8800 DK - $8400
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 23.06 DK - 6.5

On a full slate, Ovechkin is a great play, so on a five-game slate, I would say that he is a near must play in any format. It is just way too dangerous to fade him because if he goes off and you don't have him in your lineups, then well you can probably kiss your money goodbye, my friends. Trust me, I've been there, done that. I'd rather be punched in the stomach. Anyways, Ovy is playing like a man possessed to start the year as he has eight goals, yes you read that correctly, to go along with a whopping 25 shots on goal. Start him with extreme confidence in all formats.

Stack with: Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklas Backstrom (PP)

James Neal FD - $7100 DK - $6600
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 18.26 DK - 5.19

I think Nashville may regret letting this guy go, but it is what it is. I've always been a James Neal fan as he's one of the best snipers in the game. That is true so far this season as he already has five goals in three games to go along with 11 shots on goal. He offers a decent amount of upside as well as a high floor with his shot output. Fire him up in all formats.

Stack with: Cody Eakin, David Perron

Patrick Eaves FD - $4300 DK - $5500
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 10.61 DK - 2.93

We love the value here at DFSR because it allows us more flexibility in setting our lineups. Eaves is too cheap right now, especially on FanDuel given the fact that he is skating on the top line and the #1 PP unit with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. In his first game of the season, last game Eaves scored a goal on two shots while on the ice for 17 minutes. That's good enough for these prices and I will be using him in all formats this evening and so should you.

Stack with: Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry

DEFENSEMEN

T.J. Brodie FD - $4500 DK - $5000
Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 14.53 DK - 4.18

Value on defense is very important and this young man is off to a decent start as he has two goals, three assists, nine shots and nine blocks in four games. He is way too cheap for this kind of production and he skates on the top PP unit while averaging 25 minutes of ice-time per game. Brodie is a solid play in all formats.

Dion Phaneuf FD - $4100 DK - $4800
Opponent - CGY
Proj Pts FD - 13.95 DK - 4.08

This guy is considered old for a hockey player, but with superstar Erik Karlsson injured, he has stepped up as Ottawa's top D man. Phaneuf has a goal, an assist, 10 shots and 12 blocks to start the year while averaging 23.5 minutes of ice-time per game and he skates on the #1 PP unit. At these cheap prices, he's a great play in all formats.
