Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 3/6/18

Hello hockey fans and welcome to another awesome day of NHL action here at DFSR. This evening, we have nine games on tap for us with only one team(DAL) playing in a back-to-back, so almost everyone should be well-rested and ready to give it all they have. Let's get this party started!

Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk FD - $8600 DK - $8400
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 13.5 DK - 3.97

There are two elite tenders that stand out above the rest for me and it starts with Dubnyk, who has been absolute money this season on home-ice as he carries an 18-3-5 record to go along with a stifling .930 save % and a 2.15 GAA while playing in Minnesota. The veteran goalie has won five of his last six starts as he looks to carry the Wild on his back into the postseason. Dubnyk and the Wild are on a roll and the Hurricanes are ranked 26th offensively, so all things considered, he is a terrific play in all formats.

Pekka Rinne FD - $8700 DK - $8100
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 15.7 DK - 3.93

This superstar goalie is a ridiculous 16-1-1 in his last 18 games and he just recorded his 35th of the win of the season which is second-best in the league. Also, he has a terrific .927 save % to go along with a respectable 2.32 GAA and he has won his last six games in a row. While the Stars are slightly above average offensively, they are currently going into overtime in Dallas as I am writing this, so they will be getting into Nashville very late and should be exhausted. Fire up Rinne in all formats as the Preds should cruise to an easy victory on home-ice this evening.

CENTERS

Nathan MacKinnon FD - $8600 DK - $7700
Opponent - CHI
Proj Pts FD - 17.21 DK - 4.95

Wow! Just wow! Is this guy blazing hot or what? The superstar center is on a five-game point streak with an absurd six goals, six assists, and a whopping 35 shots which now gives him 77 points in only 57 games to go along with an elite 3.74 shot per game average. The offense runs through him in all situations and the Hawks are a mess right now as they've allowed an ugly 16 goals in their last three games. Mackinnon is an elite play and one of my top overall plays at any position this evening.

Stack with: Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog

Ryan Getzlaf FD - $7600 DK - $6700
Opponent - WAS
Proj Pts FD - 12.75 DK - 3.67

Great players sometimes fall down, but they always seem to find a way to get back up again and do great things. Getzlaf is no exception as his career could have ended last season after an ugly eye injury, but he came back this year a few weeks before the All-Star break. In his last two games, the superstar has a goal and six assists to give him 45 points in 41 games. He averages only 2.32 shots per game, but he averages over one block per game, which gives him a solid floor. The Capitals are ranked fifth in defense at home, but they fall all the way down to 30th on the road, so lock and load Getzlaf in all formats.

Stack with: Rickard Rakell, Corey Perry

David Backes FD - $5300 DK - $4700
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 10.77 DK - 3.09

In order to fit some higher-priced players into our lineups we needed to find value and enter Backes, who although he plays on the #3 line for the Bruins, he has been playing on the #1 powerplay unit because of Patrice Bergeron's injury. In his last two games, he has a goal to go along with eight shots and he has averaged just under three shots per game which gives him a solid floor. Fire up the veteran in all formats against the Wings and their below average 19th ranked defense.

Stack with: David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand

Also Consider: Steven Stamkos(TB)

WINGERS

Taylor Hall FD - $8300 DK - $7600
Opponent - MON
Proj Pts FD - 18.34 DK - 5.3

This young superstar has definitely been playing like a man possessed lately as he is on an incredible personal point-streak of 25 games and he now has 72 points in only 61 games. Hall has a massive ceiling this evening against a Habs team who is ranked 26th in defense on the road and he has an elite floor as he averages 3.64 shots per game. I very rarely refer to guys as must plays, but we would all be silly if we faded this guy in any format today.

Stack with: Kyle Palmieri, Nico Hischier

Patrik Laine FD - $7700 DK - $7000
Opponent - NYR
Proj Pts FD - 14.02 DK - 4.12

Laine has publicly announced that he should have been drafted ahead of Auston Matthews as the #1 pick in the entry draft two years ago and even though everyone thought it was comical back then, nobody in their right mind is laughing at him now. The Finnish sensation is on an amazing eight-game point streak where he has a ridiculous 10 goals and six assists to give him 35 goals and 58 points in 65 games. The Sniper also averages just under three shots per game which gives him a solid floor to go along with a high ceiling against the Rangers and their 24th-ranked defense. Laine is right up there with Hall as my top winger this evening, so fade him at your own risk(not recommended).

Stack with: Paul Stastny, Nikolaj Ehlers

J.T. Miller FD - $5700 DK - $4800
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 10.02 DK - 2.83

Do you think that this guy is happy after being traded to Tampa Bay? Not only is it warm there, but it is also home to the league's #1 offense. In his first two games, Miller has a goal, two assists, and five shots while averaging 18 minutes of ice-time while playing on the #2 line and switching between the top two powerplay units. He has a poor 1.56 shot per game average this season, so he's not the safest for cash games, but he's an elite GPP play against the Panthers and their 25th-ranked defense.

Stack with: Brayden Point, Yanni Gourde

Also Consider:  Patrick Kane(CHI), Ryan Spooner(NYR)

DEFENSEMEN

Tyson Barrie FD - $5500 DK - $6100
Opponent - CHI
Proj Pts FD - 11.87 DK - 3.51

Like I said earlier, Chicago has allowed 16 goals in their last three games and this guy has two goals, three assists, eight shots, and 11 blocks in his last three while averaging 25 minutes of ice-time. The veteran plays on the deadly #1 powerplay unit alongside Nathan Mackinnon and company, so if you are spending up at the defense position, Barrie is an elite play in all formats.

Nick Holden FD - $3900 DK - $3200
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 6.46 DK - 1.87

Quite a few players are adjusting rather well to their new teams after the trade deadline and Holden is no exception as he has two assists and 10 shots with Bruins in his first two games while averaging 20.5 minutes of ice-time. He is way too cheap on both sites for that kind of production, so lock Holden into your lineups in all formats and spend elsewhere, my friends.

Also Consider: Ryan Ellis(NSH)
