Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 3/22/18

Hello hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action here at DFSR. Today, we have a huge 10-game slate on tap for us with only one team(ARI) playing on consecutive nights. Almost everyone should be well-rested this evening which should result in some exciting action so let's not waste any more time and dive right into the picks.

Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. GOALIE

Semyon Varlamov FD - $8200 DK - $8100
Opponent - LA
Proj Pts FD - 14.95 DK - 3.74

The Avs are a great story in the NHL right now as they are currently sitting in the first wildcard spot in the Western Conference and this guy has been a huge part their recent success. Last game, Varlamov stopped 44 of 45 shots against the Hawks which gives him a 4-1 record in his last five games while allowing only seven goals during that span. The Av's are notoriously better on home-ice this season where they will be hosting the Kings, who own the 17th- ranked offense and they will be playing their third game in four nights and their fourth in their last six. Varlamov is locked in right now and he is an elite play and my top goalie in all formats.

Sergei Bobrovsky FD - $9400 DK - $7900
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 16.27 DK - 4.07

I know, the Panthers haven't been bad lately and they own the league's 12th ranked offense but they are about to deal with an elite goalie who has won his last six games while allowing only 13 goals during that span. The Jackets are going to ride on Goalie Bob's bus as far as it takes them this season and even though he's not the safest goalie available today, I do believe that he is a great way to separate ourselves from the masses which makes him a solid GPP option.

Also Consider: Pekka Rinne(NSH) GPP formats only vs. Toronto's #2 ranked offense

CENTERS

Nathan MacKinnon FD - $9000 DK - $8000
Opponent - LA
Proj Pts FD - 16.18 DK - 4.67

Wow, I would hate to be on the opposing defense while facing this superstar, especially right now as he is on a very impressive 13-game point streak and he has an amazing 38 goals and 91 points in only 65 games. In his last three games, Mackinnon has three goals, three assists, and a whopping 21 shots and even though the Kings own the league's second-ranked defense, they will be exhausted this evening. The young superstar is an elite GPP play and a decent cash game option, my friends.

Stack with: Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog

Sean Couturier FD - $6800 DK - $6700
Opponent - NYR
Proj Pts FD - 11.28 DK - 3.21

The Rangers and their 25th-ranked defense have pretty much called it quits for the season so the Flyers should have a hay day this evening and this young man has a goal, six assists, 13 shots, and seven blocks in his last five games. Couturier centers the #1 line and the #1 powerplay unit for the Flyers and he averages just under three shots per game giving him a solid floor so fire him up in all formats today.

Stack with: Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny

Ryan Strome FD - $4500 DK - $3200
Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 7.89 DK - 2.29

The Oilers are all but done for the season so they are going to see what this guy can do for them and he has been decent lately as he has a goal, an assist, and 11 shots in his last two games. The young man centers the #3 line but he plays on the #1 powerplay unit with Connor McDavid and company so he is a decent value play in all formats, especially over at Draftkings where is $1300 cheaper.

Stack with: Milan Lucic, Jesse Puljujarvi

Also Consider: Mika Zibanejad(NYR), Brayden Point(TB)

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin FD - $8800 DK - $7900
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 18.67 DK - 5.42

You can count on the Great Eight finishing the season strong as he is only one goal ahead of Patrick Laine for the most goals scored and the Caps are in a very close playoff race in the Metropolitan Division. The superstar winger has 44 goals and 81 points in 73 games, and he leads the league 311 shots and 4.1 shots per game. The Wings are 1-8-1 in their last 10 games, their ranked 23rd defensively and they've allowed 22 goals in their last four games so all things considered, Ovechkin is elite play and my top winger in all formats.

Stack with: Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie(PP)

J.T. Miller FD - $6100 DK - $6400
Opponent - NYI
Proj Pts FD - 10.96 DK - 3.09

Getting exposure to the Lightning is probably a smart idea this evening as they're about to take on the Isles and their 31st ranked defense. Enter Miller who has a pretty good gig playing alongside two of the league's best players on the #1 line and the #1 powerplay unit for the league's #1 ranked offense. The young winger has only an assist and four shots in his last two games but he scored a hat-trick on 10 shots four games ago. He is tough to trust in cash games as he averages under two shots per game but he has as much upside as any player tonight so fire him up in your tournament lineups.

Stack with: Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos

Kevin Labanc FD - $4200 DK - $4000
Opponent - VEG
Proj Pts FD - 8.78 DK - 2.57

We need value to fit a couple of superstars into our lineups this evening although this young man plays on the #3 line for the Sharks, he plays on the deadly #1 powerplay unit with a bunch of superstars. The third line has also been fairly hot lately and Labanc has an impressive two goals, two assists, and nine shots in his last three games. Vegas owns the league's 11th-ranked road defense but they will be without their #1 goalie this evening so fire up Labanc as a value play in all formats.

Stack with: Chris Tierney, Timo Meier

Also Consider: Artemi Panarin(CLB), Patrick Kane(CHI), Alex Killorn(TB)

DEFENSEMEN

Ryan McDonagh FD - $4900 DK - $5200
Opponent - NYI
Proj Pts FD - 10.99 DK - 3.31

The hard-nosed veteran finally looks up to speed after being injured and adjusting to a new system in Tampa. In his last game, he scored his second goal of the season in a Lightning uniform to go along with a shot and six blocks, and he has two goals, seven shots, and 13 blocks in his last four. McDonagh kills penalties and plays on the #2 powerplay unit for the Lightning so he makes for a solid play in all formats against the Isles and their league-worst defense.

Matt Niskanen FD - $4400 DK - $4000
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 9.23 DK - 2.69

The Caps should dominate this game from puck drop today so getting exposure to them is a good idea. Niskanen has been making a late surge to record his fifth 30-point season in a row(he currently has 27) and he has two goals, an assist, six shots, and nine blocks while averaging 23 minutes of ice-time during that span. The veteran plays on the #2 powerplay unit and he kills penalties for the Caps so lock him into your lineups in all formats and spend elsewhere.

Also Consider: Neal Pionk(NYR), Ryan Pulock(NYI)
