Pitchers

Gerrit Cole FD 9900 DK 10900
Opponent - COL (Tyler Anderson) Park - COL
FD - 36.5 DK - 19.64

There are definitely a few ways to go contrarian at pitcher in GPP's tonight and it starts with Gerrit Cole.  He will go into Coors Field and face the Rockies who have scored a total of 45 runs in their last six games at home(7.5 per game) but the good news here is that we get him at his lowest price since the first weeks of the season. He has been an elite option on the mound all season with his 2.52 ERA backed up by a 3.08 xFIP and is second to only Chris Sale in K rate striking out 12.4 batters per nine with an elite 14.1% swinging strike rate. The Rockies do K(23.2%) more against right-handed pitching so there is most definitely upside here for a big game making him a nice GPP option tonight.

Masahiro Tanaka FD 8800 DK 8600
Opponent - TB (Yonny Chirinos) Park - TB
FD - 36.18 DK - 19.17

I talked about it being close between Wheeler and Tanaka for a value SP2 on DraftKings or GPP option on FanDuel and ultimately sided with Wheeler in the main article. Tanaka hasn't provided the same floor averaging almost a full inning less per start lately and sits with a 4.54 ERA on the season but good news as he has an xFIP(3.79) that is slightly lower. He also provides upside striking out a batter per inning which is likely to rise down the stretch as he also sits with an elite 13.8% swinging strike rate. Severino had it going last night early on before the Rays got to him for six earned runs but seeing as they are just an average offense against righties and the Yankees are a -200 favorite in an upgraded pitchers park, I think we can comfortably roster Tanaka in GPP formats tonight and load up on bats.

Felix Pena FD 7100 DK 5500
Opponent - CHW (Carlos Rodon) Park - CHW
FD - 25.6 DK - 12.3

There is definitely risk here as Pena has yet to go more than 83 pitches in his first five starts with the Angels but there is also a ton of upside as he has struck out 30 batters in his first 23.2 innings(11.41 K/9 & 30% K rate) with a 13.8% swinging strike rate. It also helps that he gets a terrific matchup vs. a White Sox team that ranks 25th in runs scored overall and 23rd vs. right-handed pitching when looking at wOBA and wRC+ and sit with a 25.5% K rate. Pair him with one of the more expensive pitchers on DraftKings and you will still be able to stack almost any team you wish.
