From the Green Jacket to the Plaid Jacket as the PGA Tour heads to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the 2022 RBC Heritage. You would almost think it's another major with arguably the best field we have seen here as five of the world's Top 10 and 24 of the world's Top 50 golfers will tee it up at Harbour Town GL this week.

It's not only the jacket color that changes this week as the course is a near-polar opposite of Augusta. Harbour Town is a Pete Dye special that mitigates distance off the tee and forces players to find certain areas of the fairway(or rough in the right places) if you are to have a shot at these very small Bermuda greens. With players finding fairways at an above-average rate compared to Tour average, it puts a ton of emphasis on approach shots and those players who are dialed in with their irons are the ones who find their way to the top of the leaderboard comes Sunday. With the course being a par 71, there is also one less Par 5 hole which pushes Par 4 scoring way up my weights in the model. Let's look at those top stats below and then get into the picks.

Top Stats(in order)

  • Strokes Gained: Approach
  • Par 4 Scoring
  • Strokes Gained: Putting
  • Fairways Gained
  • Opportunities/Birdies Gained

Top Targets

Matt Fitzpatrick
World Golf Ranking (#
23)
Vegas Odds (22/1)
Draftkings ($9,500)
FanDuel ($10,800)

The model absolutely loves the top guys this week but coming off a major at Augusta, I am looking to mitigate the risk some and build more balanced in all formats. That strategy starts with Matt Fitzpatrick who checks every box this week starting with form as he finished T14 at the Masters and has five Top 15's in his last six events since the start of February. He now returns to Harbour Town GL where he has been very good in recent years not only making the cut in four straight trips but adding Top 15 finishes in three of them. All things considered, Fitzpatrick is my favorite DFS play on both sites and I will also be placing a bet at 22-1 for him to hoist the trophy Sunday evening.

Si Woo Kim
World Golf Ranking (#47)
Vegas Odds (55/1)
Draftkings ($8,400)
FanDuel ($10,000)

Any time the PGA Tour shows up at a Pete Dye course you are going to hear all about Si Woo Kim and for good reason, as he ranks 11th in Strokes Gained: Total over the last 24 rounds on all Pete Dye courses. He almost won this even back in 2018 and has made the cut here in three of five trips but what stands out more is the form coming into the week. He has played a ton this season and been one of the more consistent players making 13 of 14 cuts with six Top 25 finishes. He will be chalky this week but I have him as a top PTS/$ value in all formats.

Matt Kuchar
World Golf Ranking (#98)
Vegas Odds (66/1)
Draftkings ($7,800)
FanDuel ($9,600)

There is a strong chance Kevin Kisner is the highest owned in this range and while I will have some exposure, I do like Kuchar a bit more this week. It starts with course history as this has been one of Kuchar's best stops on Tour as he has put together 17 straight made cuts since missing in his first trip to Harbour Town GL back in 2003. It gets better as in that streak Kuchar has a win(2014), seven Top 10's, and 11 Top 25 finishes. He has also fully bounced back from a bad stretch in Feb/Mar and has put together a T16 at the Valspar and a T2 at the Valero in his last events. He is never going to pop in the stats models with his ball-striking but is near elite around and on the greens and he is great on Pte Dye tracks where distance is mitigated. I will have exposure in all formats.

Adam Hadwin
World Golf Ranking (#99)
Vegas Odds (50/1)
Draftkings ($7,600)
FanDuel ($9,500)

Like Kisner, Hadwin is likely to be very high owned this week as well but checks every single box starting with form as he comes in red-hot with three straight Top 10 finishes. He has been terrific tee to green in that time but it has been highlighted by an elite iron game as he has gained 11.8 strokes on approach in those three events and is 7th in this elite field in the stat over the last 24 rounds. The course history isn't elite but he has made the cut here at Harbour Town in four of his last five trips so at these prices, I am full send on the Canadian this week!
