The Astros are favored to win the series, and lead game one 2-0 in the fifth inning as I write this. They'll look to capitalize on the home field advantage and head to New York with a 2-0 series lead by sending mid season acquisition Justin Verlander to the hill tonight against the Bronx bombers. Houston picked Verlander up from Detroit with a month to go in the season and he immediately paid dividends. Verlander closed out the season with the 'Stros going 5-0 allowing 4 earned runs in five Houston starts while striking out 43 in 34 innings pitched. Verlander started game one of the division series against Boston allowing two runs in six innings of work but only managed three K's and followed that up with 2.2 innings of relief work in game four on Monday. Verlander should be well rested and ready to go for tonight's matchup in the friendliest park for pitchers in the game. The price for Verlander on FanDuel gives me a moment of pause as he's the most expensive arm going, I find the sub 10K price tag on DraftKings much more appealing. Luis Severino FD 9500 DK 8700 Opponent - HOU (Verlander) Park - @HOU FD - 33.82 DK - 17.76 The Yankees will counter Verlander with 23 year old Luis Severino. Severino was stellar in his first full big league season, picking up 14 wins in 31 starts, while striking out 10.71 batters per 9 innings pitched, and finishing the season with a combined .265 wOBA allowed. Perhaps it was just a bad case of jitters that got to Severino in his first postseason start when the Twins took him for three runs on four hits and a walk in just .1 IP of the AL Wildcard contest. The Yanks were able to rally behind the pen and pull off the win and Severino received a chance at redemption...

First up we have game two between the Cubs and Nationals in D.C. Chicago wanted to get Jon Lester out on the hill on full rest so they sent Kyle Hendricks out for game one of the series and a fresh armed Lester will toe the rubber this afternoon against the potent Nationals lineup. Both Lester and Gonzalez are rather evenly matched, and both can easily be exploited, that said I will look to the late contest for cash game pitching though if I wanted to shake things up in a GPP I would tend to give the slight edge to Lester. Despite his 4.33 ERA that he finished the season with, Lester sported a 3.85 xFIP which while not remarkable, was better than Gio's final mark. Lester averaged just under a K per inning this season. What I love the most about Lester, however, is the fact that he held left-handed hitters to a .237 wOBA this season which should help to keep Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy in check. Gio Gonzalez FD 8600 DK 8400 Opponent - CHC (Lester) Park - @WSH FD - 31.28 DK - 15.89 On the other side, we have Gio Gonzalez. The Nationals aren't ready to rush Max Scherzer out just yet so they're reserving him for game three, which completely changes the slate. With only two games, it's hard to imagine any one pitcher being extremely low owned or contrarian, but I personally will have extremely limited if any exposure to Gio. Which isn't to negate his capabilities or the season he had, he finished the season with the second-best ERA of the four pitchers going today, but also had the highest xFIP by nearly half a point. Gonzalez could very well come out and dazzle, I mean the Cubs are a power hitting team and are not above swinging and missing from time to time, they struck...

We've got you completely covered. TEXAS RANGERS If you did yourself a favor and read the main picks article, you know we're big fans of Texas. Daniel Gossett is one of the worst starters in baseball and he'll be traveling from the spacious O.Co Coliseum to the bam box in Arlington. The Rangers are expected to put up over 5.5 runs and I think they get there. As a righty, Gossett has found a way to allow respective .366 and .378 wOBA's. He's also given up 20 homers in just over 80 innings. No matter how you slice it, Gossett is a pitcher who should still be working on things in the minors. The Rangers are a lethal lineup and rank 7th in baseball against righties at home. Nomar Mazara, Joey Gallo, Adrian Beltre, and Elvis Andrus are my favorite 4. After them, look for anyone in the top of the order. THey have a ton of guys who can do damage and I have no problem looking towards the bottom of the order in a large-field tourney. MINNESOTA TWINS Buck Farmer is better than Daniell Gossett, but not by much. He has posted a .392 wOBA against lefties and a .345 against righties. He also has an HR issue with 9 in 40 innings. He faces off against a Twins team that is just getting the monstrous Miguel Sano back. Sano brings a lot more depth to this lineup and allows a few more guys to see pitches in the zone. Eddie Rosario, Jorge Polanco, and Max Kepler are the big lefties to attack with. Brian Dozier and Sano are the only righties I'll have exposure to, but Buxton is perfectly fine. All in all, this Twins team should put up some runs and you generally know where they will come from. I certainly like the Rangers more in that ballpark, but so will others. I expect the Twins to come in pretty low-owned. GRAB A FREE TRIAL OF OUR PROJECTION SYSTEM, AND CHECK OUT DFSR PRO! START FREE TRIAL NOW! GET OUR FREE EBOOK ON DAILY FANTASY MLB and NBA...

It's been a fun and exciting season of MLB here at DFSR and as we make our way through the final weekend of the regular season, we need to really drill down to who has something to fight for and who is just phoning it in. Despite 100 wins and one hell of a win streak under their belt, the Indians still have something to fight for. They have a one game lead over Houston for the top record in the American League and if they want that home field advantage they will need to pick up these final few W's. As I write this, both teams are winning their respective Friday night games. Cleveland will counter with Corey Kluber tonight as the Indians close out this final series of the year at home against the White Sox. Chicago doesn't really present much of a challenge for the Indians ace, as they rank in the bottom third of baseball with a .315 team wOBA and they strike out at a 22.9% clip, which is eighth most in the game. Sure, Kluber is going to cost you a hefty chunk of change, but what do you expect with a .642 win percentage and 11.87 K/9. With expanded rosters and resting players, there should be plenty of value bats popping up through the day, so the price on CK shouldn't be a dealbreaker when considering the implied safety that comes along with it. Max Scherzer FD 10900 DK 12500 Opponent - PIT (Taillon) Park - @WSHFD - 46.64 DK - 30.82 Max Scherzer is a little cheaper, and if I had to consider both at these prices in mid July, I would most likely give the edge to Mad Max, but here we are at the final start of the season and the Nationals have little to play for right now. He was pulled after only 87 pitches in his last start against the Mets, though he dominated them through six innings allowing just three hits and one earned run, while striking out ten. He gets another prime...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Early Carlos Carrasco FD 10200 DK 12800 Opponent - SEA (Moore) Park - @SEAFD - 38.51 DK - 25.29 We've got split slate action here as we approach the final week of the season and boy is it ever split. The main slate has batters aplenty with some questionable pitching and the early slate has some nice arms with questionable bats. It's always a nice slate for pitching when Carlos Carrasco is included. He hit a season high in salary last time out and has come back down a bit following a four run outing against the Royals on the heels of a four game stretch where he allowed just two runs in 29 innings pitched. Another piece to this dominant Cleveland pitching staff, Carrasco is coming in just under 10 K/9 with a 3.35 xFIP which is ranked eleventh among qualified pitchers. Today he takes on a Seattle team that has lost six straight heading into this weekend series and while not eliminated just yet, have little hope of seeing the postseason. They don't strikeout a ton, just 20.5% of the time. As the largest favorite going today with an opening line of -210, Carrasco is an excellent cash option that can be used in tournaments as well. Charlie Morton FD 9200 DK 8700 Opponent - LAA (Norris) Park - @HOUFD - 32.26 DK - 21.39 Also on the early slate we have Charlie Morton, Morton's price has been slowly on the rise but I still think there's some value to be garnered here. Particularly against the Angels, who rank among the bottom third in baseball with a .316 team wOBA vs RHP. The Angels are another team that tend to be stingy with the strikeouts, 19.6% vs RHP, but like Carrasco above, Morton has a knack for exploiting a teams weakness at the plate and compiling K's with ease. Through his last six starts Morton has averaged 10.70 K/9 while holding opponents to two runs or fewer in all but two of those. Another solid favorite in Vegas, Morton has the luxury of throwing in the friendliest park in baseball against an Anaheim team on the outside looking in at the last wildcard spot. These two pair together nicely...
