2018 NFL Fantasy Preview – Team Target Redistribution 7/13/18

2018 NFL Fantasy Preview - Team Target Redistribution 7/13/18 When it comes to fantasy football, you likely fall into one of two categories. Either you’ve been going HAM since the Super Bowl following every single piece of off-season news, the Draft and working out value scenarios in your head OR you are just starting to do some cursory research now because you got the reminder email that your friends’ league is deciding on a draft date soon. It’s tough to exist in the middle ground. Today we are going to look at some of the off-season moves by examining teams that lost the biggest target shares because of personnel changes. These are teams that, theoretically, have made room for new faces to take over the receiving duties and possibly hit on some value. This is a free preview os DFSR premium content coming this fall under our PRO package. Dallas Cowboys Lost Dez Bryant (132) Jason Witten (82) Kept Terrence Williams (77) Cole Beasley (63) Added Allen Hurns - from JAX (56) Deonte Thompson - from BUF/CHI (68) Tavon Austin - from LA (22) A Poo-Poo Platter of Tight Ends Things got really weird, real fast in Dallas with the Cowboys releasing Dez Bryant back in April making him a free agent. That, coupled with Jason Witten’s retirement, move 214 targets off the board in 2018. It stands to reason that A: they’ll pass a bit less because a full season of Ezekiel Elliott probably means Dallas runs a bit more and B: someone is going to step up in a big way. It’s tough to get consensus, right now, on how the Cowboys’ depth chart will shake out. Different *Depth Chart* sites are all over the board meaning it’s likely anyone’s guess right now. If we had to take the depth chart closest to the consensus we are likely looking at Allen Hurns and Terrance Williams at the primary wideouts with some combination of Beasley and Austin lining up in the slot. Hurns averaged 5.6 targets per game for the Jaguars last season and it stands to reason the upgrade from Blake Bortles to Dak Prescott could improve on the 69% conversion percentage. Prescott, even with a step back after his rookie campaign completed 63% of his passes while Bortles was around 60% in 2017. Hurns’ last two seasons were injury-shortened though in 2015 he put up a 64/ 1,031/ 10 season on 104 targets. the industry, as a...

Congrats to DFSR User Andrew Morris for Winning the DK Million!

Posted by on Dec 13, 2016 in featured, News, Weekly Fantasy Football Picks | 11 comments

How he leveraged DFSR's tools and his own skills to take down the DraftKings NFL Sunday Million Sunday was a crazy night in our corner of the daily fantasy football universe. Our entire chat room was sweating DFSR user Andrew Morris, who managed to take down the Sunday Million with only a single entry. How did he do it? A combination of luck and skill, of course. Let's take a look at his line-up. Andrew is going to come on our NFL Podcast on Thursday to share his thought process, but here's a little information to get you started. Right away we see guys that were showing up in our optimal cash game line-ups, like Le'Veon Bell, Jarvis Landry, Taylor Gabriel, Emmanuel Sanders, and Zach Ertz. Our projection system had picked Bell out as a clear must play, even at those prices, where the last 4 looked like big time values relative to their match-ups and current roles with their teams. It turned out that it was mandatory to play Bell if you wanted to win a big tourney this weekend, and doing so helped Andrew effectively eliminate the 75% of the field that chose not to play him. Andrew also happened to get good separation by playing Ertz and Landry at less than 5% each. One interesting thing about our line-up optimizer is that it doesn't actually care how highly owned a guy is going to be, and while this introduces some amount of risk for 50/50s, it can also help find diamonds in the rough for big tourneys. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Then, Andrew brought his own special sauce to the occasion. He locked in Kirk Cousins, DeSean Jackson, and Jeremy Hill. Hill wound up being fantastic in a brutal weather game, and the Cousins/Jackson pairing provided very solid value on excellent prices while also giving Morris a bit of further separation on the field. For his defense, Andrew did an excellent job of taking a defense that had a match-up worthy of being a chalk play that was slightly under-owned as compared to some of the more obvious plays (like the Jets or Bengals). Grabbing the Falcons against the erratic Rams was a real shark move, here. The Rams had a low total on the day, sure, but they also were likely to be playing from behind. Playing from behind means more chances need to be taken, and Atlanta capitalized by delivering a pick 6 and then knocking the ball loose from Goff's hands and running a fumble back for a TD as well. And the result? Andrew Morris brought home the million. Listen - no optimizer is going to be a one-click win button...

Draftster has a ton of cool stuff going on Now including the Terrell Owens $2500 Challenge and a whole host of Freerolls   Quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers -$8000 Not exactly hopping out on a limb here with Rodgers, but on a short slate that's totally fine. Chalky-chalk is sometimes the way to go and when the options are limited choosing safety is perfectly acceptable even if the points/$ don't exactly crush it out of the box. Rodgers is facing a Bears team ranked in the bottom third in the league against the pass. The Packers are featuring a number of different weapons in the passing game, especially with the emergence of DaVante Adams. The over under on this game is the highest of the week and I'm happy to get extra money in on the guy if it's going to be a shootout. I don't need to quote stats for you here. Rodgers is among the elite quarterbacks in the league in a game that should be high-scoring. Do it. Colin Kaepernick - $6600 If you played him last week and got burned rest assured you weren't alone. He's been disappointing relative to projection and our system has been wrong on the guy. But I'm in the firm camp that some of this is a little run bad, especially when it comes to his rushing touchdowns. If you believe that a scrambling and mobile quarterback like Kaep won't run his way into the end zone, then you should stay away. But if you believe there is some regression coming with the rushing TDS, then he could crush these prices. The Saints allow the 27th most passing yards per game so he...
