Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

New York Mets vs. Wily Peralta (Brewers)
Park - Citi Field
Wily Peralta is a dude we love to pick on around here mostly because opposing batters also like to bully the guy. And why not? As far as major league pitchers go, he’s about as bad an arm with a regular starting gig. This season’s no different. He’s striking out about 5.5 per nine and walking almost four. Those numbers are horrific and his 5.04 xFIP doesn’t get much worse for a dude not about to get sent to the minors. The Mets are in a great spot with pretty much every bat in their lineup in play. Michael Conforto’s been particularly adept at hitting righty pitching over the last couple of seasons with a .393 wOBA and .930 OPS.  Curtis Granderson also will make things tough with a 14% BB rate in that time frame and high .800’s OPS. But like I said, consider just about every Met. Lucas Duda, Neil Walker and Yoenis Cespedes all make for solid stacking options.

Houston Astros vs. Colby Lewis (Rangers)
Park - Minute Maid Park
The Astros are in play all weekend (and I’ll get to them even more down below) because they face some of the weaker arms in one of the better ballparks. For overall power Minute Maid Park ranks well above average and is a bad place for flyball pitchers. Welcome to Houston Colby Lewis! Lewis’ career 43.3% FB% means he’s susceptible to the long ball and that causes him issues. The Astros are a righty-heavy top of the order but that doesn’t mean I’m getting away from them. Jose Altuve, George Springer and Carlos Correa can hold there own in this split with Colby Rasmus a dangerous bat in the middle of the lineup.

Cleveland Indians vs. Clay Buchholz  (Red Sox)
Park - Fenway Park
Clay Buchholz has been a little piece of terrible this season and is definitely at some risk of losing his slot in the rotation. He's pitching to a 5.18 xFIP and walking close to four batters per nine. The K's are down from last season and if anything he's even getting a little lucky with the BABIP. Imagine if that went the other way? He's probably be in the minors right now. As it stands he's still taking the mound tonight and the Indians have one of the higher expected totals (4.5) on the slate. Lefties are crushing Clay this season to a .387 wOBA so look for guys like Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindnor to put in work.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
