Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Diamondbacks vs.Luis Perdomo (SD)

Luis Perdomo has had it rough in the early going of his big league career. He is coming into this contest sporting a 8.49 ERA that is backed up by a 5.46 FIP. Guess you could say his ERA will eventually drop, but a FIP over 5 suggests that he's been bad. His ERA and FIP aren't the only reasons why I will be stacking the Diamondbacks today. Another reason is the park. Perdomo will be moving from spacious Petco Park into hitter-friendly Chase Field, which is never a good thing. The Diamondbacks own a .426 SLG (9th in MLB) against right-handed pitchers, so look for them to do some damage against the young right-hander.

Houston Astros vs. Wade Miley(SEA)

The Astros four big bats (Evan Gattis, Jose Altuve, George Springer and Carlos Correa do some serious damage against southpaws, so getting some exposure to these guys is one route to take.

They will be going up against Wade Miley, who has not had things go his way this season. He is coming into this contest sporting a 5.87 ERA that is backed up by a 4.92 FIP.

Miley is a guy that pitches to contact (opponents own a .281 AVG), which will help this Astros' squad that strikes out a ton. Not only do they have that in their favor, but Miley also owns a 1.40 WHIP, which is just calling for trouble against this powerful lineup. Things have just not gone Miley's way, so I will go ahead and get some exposure to the Astros' big bats.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Jon Niese (STL)

I will now be talking about another southpaw who has struggled this season, but who has been even worse, Jon Niese.

Niese is coming into this contest sporting an ERA and FIP over 5 (ouch). He has had a rough going in the early part of the season and I expect that trend to continue today against the Cardinals. He also owns a 1.53 WHIP and 7.8 K-BB%, which is also terrible. Everything about this matchup is yelling out Cardinals' righties to me, so just do yourself a favor and stack St. Louis today. I know they are in the bottom half of the league against southpaws, but this matchup is just way to good to pass up on and I expect them to make some fireworks of their own today.
