Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Baltimore Orioles vs. Ross Detwiler (Athletics)
Park - Oakland Coliseum

The Orioles offense hit a speed bump in Oakland but will have a great chance to get back on track and salvage a game in the series on Wednesday. They go up against Ross Detwiler who will be making his first start of the season after spending the last three months in AAA after being traded from the Indians to the A's. In 15 starts in the minors between the two clubs he has posted an ERA around 4.00. He gets a tough test tonight as the Orioles rank 9th in total runs scored this season. Their current two game slide has kept their salaries very affordable making it easy to fit four(FanDuel) or five(DraftKings) of them in your lineup tonight. The best options are Manny Machado, Adam Jones, Steve Pearce, Mark Trumbo, and Jonathan Schoop.

Texas Rangers vs. Jorge De La Rosa (Rockies)
Park - Globe life Park in Arlington

The highest total on the slate comes in a matchup between two southpaws in Globe Life park in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers are favored at home with -150 line at the moment and team total north of five runs today. They make a great stacking option vs. Jorge De La Rosa who has been bad at home and even worse on the road this year. In 48.2 innings away from Coors Field he has pitched to a 6.10 ERA and allowed opponents a .375 wOBA and a hard contact rate(33.5%) that is over 7% higher than his home number. The middle of the Rangers order is a great place to start your stack with Adrian Beltre, Ian Desmond, Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran. Shin-Soo Choo and Roughned Odor also make intriguing options in a lefty lefty matchup but both actually hit southpaws quite well.

Boston Red Sox vs. Nathan Eovaldi (Yankees)
Park - Fenway Park

Finally we have the Boston Red Sox almost always make a nice stacking option regardless of matchup. They lead the majors in runs scored with 603 for the season and also lead baseball in hitting vs. right handed pitching with a .350 wOBA and impressive 115 wRC+. Nathan Eovaldi should not provide much resistance to the power house that is the Red Sox as he has struggled for the most part this season. Eovaldi comes into tonight's matchup with a 4.18 xFIP and average 7.06 K/9 rate. While he limited opponents to eight hits in his last two starts(13 IP), four of them were long balls which hurt him in a big way resulting in losses. I will be focusing my Red Sox stack on the projected top of the order tonight with Mookie Betts, Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz and Xander Bogaerts if he is back in the lineup. I will also have a sprinkle of some value with Jackie Bradley Jr. and Hanley Ramirez.
