Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 3/4/17

Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 3/4/17

Welcome back to another Saturday in daily fantasy hockey. Tonight is a bit different from past weekends as there are no afternoon games. We do, however, get a nice 10 game slate tonight with some terrific matchups. Let's jump right into the picks.

Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

GOALIES

Jon Quick FD - $8700 DK - $8300
Opponent - VAN
Proj Pts FD - 20.17 DK - 5.04

Quick is back between the pipes for the Kings after a long injury absence and is looking to get the Kings back in the playoffs down the stretch. He has gone 2-1 since his return, winning both games at home vs. the Leafs and Wild while stopping 61 of 64 shots he faced. He gets another elite home matchup vs. the Canucks who have lost four straight and have one of the worse road records in the league. Roll with Quick in all formats tonight.

Tuukka Rask FD - $8900 DK - $8300
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 20.39 DK - 5.1

Rask has been very inconsistent lately with a sub .900 save % in his last 10 starts but has a great matchup tonight that can't be ignored. The Bruins are the biggest favorites(-275) on the slate at home to the Devils who have lost five straight games and slipped to 28th overall in offense. The only risk here is the fact the Devils don't take a ton of shots and the Bruins limit opponents shots but I am not worried in tournaments.

Also Consider: Cam Talbot(EDM)

CENTERS

Jack Eichel FD - $7400 DK - $7600
Opponent - TB
Proj Pts FD - 14.79 DK - 4.79

The NHL is filled young talent like never before and Eichel is one of leaders fo the movement. He has overcome multiple injuries in his first two season in the show but just keeps pushing forward which is exactly what we want to see from an up and coming superstar. With 14 points over his last 10 games, he has brought his season total to 40 in just 43 games this season. He also offers a very high floor with an average of over four shots on goal per game.

Stack with: Marcus Foligno, Sam Reinhart

Henrik Zetterberg FD - $6400 DK - $5300
Opponent - EDM
Proj Pts FD - 11.56 DK - 3.58

It's been a frustrating season for the Red Wings who were forced to move forward without Pavel Datsyuk. They sit in the basement of the Eastern Conference and look to rebuild moving forward. This doesn't mean there isn't value, however, as Zetterberg has been extremely consistent lately. He is having his best month of the season with 13 points in 11 games in February with 29 shots for a safe floor as well.

Stack with: Tomas Tatar, Anthony Mantha

Valtteri Filppula FD - $3700 DK - $4600
Opponent - WAS
Proj Pts FD - 7.2 DK - 2.09

If you are looking for a salary relief option or contrarian GPP option turn to the Flyers. Filppula joined the team via trade earlier this week and seen a spark in his play recording a goal in his first game with the team. He skated just over 15 minutes on the second line with Schenn and Voracek and also recorded three shots. His value will eventually become higher as he gets fitted into the powerplay. The matchup is tough on the road in Washington so expect sub 5% ownership once again.

Stack with: Brayden Schenn, Jakub Voracek

WINGERS

Patrik Laine FD - $7700 DK - $7100
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 16.15 DK - 4.94

Back to another elite young gun who is playing beyond his years in the NHL. He is currently tied with Auston Matthews with 31 goals and he leads all rookies with 56 points in just 57 games this season. He has helped rejuvenate an offense that ranked in the bottom 10 last season and now sits inside the top 10. What also makes him an elite fantasy play is his shot volume. He has recorded 31 shots over the last 10 games and averages just under three per game for the season.

Stack with: Mark Scheifele, Matthieu Perreault

Jonathan Huberdeau FD - $6400 DK - $6100
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 12.27 DK - 3.8

Another player like Eichel who missed time due to injury this season but has rebounded nicely since returning. In his first 12 games back he has tallied 11 points while skating more than 17 minutes per game with Jagr and Barkov on the top line and top powerplay unit. He not only provides upside vs. the 29th ranked defense in the Stars, but also comes with a safe floor having tallied 37 shots in those 12 games.

Stack with: Jaromir Jagr, Aleksander Barkov

DEFENSEMEN
Dustin Byfuglien FD - $5900 DK - $6200
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 12.02 DK - 3.75

If you followed Ryan's advice last night with Big Buff you were probably pretty happy as he recorded two assists. Buff now has points in six straight games and eight points over his last 10 games with 11 blocks and 39 shots on goal. The shot volume alone makes him safe in all formats and a matchup vs. the bottom feeding Avs has me not worrying about the back to back whatsoever.
Oscar Klefbom FD - $4800 DK - $4900
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 9.93 DK - 3.11

This marks the first night in a long time I will not be recommending a punt option with either of my D picks. Klefbom is having a career year with 11 goals, 28 points, and a +8 rating. He has been very consistent lately as well with eight points(3 on PP) in his last 10 games with 17 blocks and 24 shots on goal. At a sub $5K price tag, he is safe in all formats.
