Raise your hand if you are ready for sports to come back? While I can't see you, I am pretty sure 100% of you reading this have at least one arm up in the air. It has been a very odd time lately and I am happy to be back talking REAL sports(no offense to the eGaming/eSports crowd). In this article, I just want to update you on the new NASCAR timeline as well as update you on a personal note of what I have been up to during the quarantine/social distancing period. Let's get started. Personal Update It was a wild timeline for me during this whole thing. It started out with my holiday to Phoenix which was going according to plan at the start as I was able to get to and enjoy the FanShield 500 at Phoenix Raceway with no idea it would possibly be the last race of the season with fans. Monday and Tuesday I got to visit our family friend who is in the SF Giants system and watch some practices at Spring Training facilities. Wednesday evening is when everything blew up as Rudy Gobert tested positive shutting down the NBA, followed by the NHL on Thursday. The PGA Championship was then canceled after Round 1 was suspended due to "dark conditions". I was still positive and prepped the Xfinity and Cup series sheets for the next weekend only to finish just as NASCAR postponed races as well. With Spring Training also postponed, we finished our trip doing some outdoor stuff and got to do lots of kids stuff as well. We flew home late Saturday night and were about 2-3 days away from border and travel chaos. It was so weird as when we left there was no concern really at all about COVID-19 and never seen or heard a word about it in Phoenix the first 3-4 days. I have learned a lot of new things over the past 6-7 weeks since the world has been shut down. Some of...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – The PLAYERS Championship

Head on over to my Patreon Page This week the PGA Tour heads to TPC Sawgrass for The PLAYERS Championship and one of the strongest fields in golf. Each of the Top 10 and 47 of the Top 50 players in the world are teeing it up this week and 110 players in the field have at least one PGA Tour win. TPC Sawgrass is a Par 72 listed at 7,189 yards on the scorecard and is a classic Pete Dye design with tight fairways, Bermuda rough(2.5 inches on average), and small Bermuda greens(5,500 sq feet on average). Accuracy off the tee is very important if you want a decent lie and opportunity to hit the smaller greens and this leads to a fairly heavy "less than driver" strategy for most of the field. The second key here is the approach shot to the smaller greens and this is where the winners have mostly separated themselves in past years. Five of the 10 Par 4's are also 450+ yards so there will also be a lot of approaches coming from 175+ yards so players will need to be on with their long irons. With the smaller greens, there is going to be a lower Greens in Regulation % which means getting up and down is very important so Scrambling/Strokes Gained: Around the Green is weighted heavy in my model as well. Finally, with a winning score in the mid-teens on average year to year, Birdie or Better % is a great stat to look at as well, especially if you are playing showdown contests on DraftKings. From a cash game lineup construction perspective, I always like going balanced and this week it makes even more sense as the strong field has lowered the prices on some top players. For GPP formats, balanced also works but stars and scrubs is likely preferred and is easy to do as there are...

GOALIE Jaroslav Halak FD - $8700 DK - $7800 Opponent - FLA Proj Pts FD - 19.76 DK - 14.59 Halak went through some struggles through most of December and January but has bounced back in a big way winning six straight starts coming into tonight. During that stretch, he has also posted a .930 save % and now faces a Panthers team that has lost 11 of their last 15 games while scoring just 2.4 goals per game. I try to not lead off with a goalie on the road but with Bruins are still -150 favorites here and with Halak's form, he is my favorite cash game goalie tonight.  Martin Jones FD - $7700 DK - $7700 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 16.39 DK - 12.04 If you are looking at going the value route and loading up at skaters you can consider Martin Jones tonight. The season numbers can be tough to look at but the good news is that he has been much better lately winning three straight while stopping 76 of 80 shots( .950 save %) he has faced. There is some risk here as the Wild have been pretty damn good on the road lately but I am willing to overlook this in GPP formats tonight given the upside. Also Consider: Carter Hart(PHI) as a cash game option as he doesn't face a ton of shots on average but the win expectancy is there as the Flyers have been terrific on home ice CENTERS Connor McDavid FD - $8900 DK - $7900 Opponent - CHI Proj Pts FD - 22.59 DK - 17.03 There is no shortage of elite centers in plus spots tonight and choosing which one to ride with is likely the key to cashing. Matthews does give you a bit more shot volume and more goal upside but I lean McDavid tonight who is cheaper on both sites leading to the #1 spot in PTS/$ rankings. McDavid may not be on the same level in terms of shot volume but is...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – Arnold Palmer Invitational

Head on over to my Patreon Page The Florida swing continues this week with a trip to Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. A loaded field of 121 players is led by World #1 Rory McIlroy and consists of four other players(Koepka, Scott, Reed, Fleetwood) inside the Top 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Bay Hill became the host course for this event back in 1979 and has been a staple on Tour ever since. It is a par 72 setup that has a posted distance of 7,454 yards on the scorecard and has ranked Top 15 in difficulty over the last three years(8th, 15th, 9th). The difficulty comes from the number of long iron shots players are forced to hit and it starts with the Par 3's as they are all over 190 yards with three of them 215 yards or longer. The trend continues on the Par 4's as five of the 10 are longer than 450 yards. Looking at the approach shot distribution(pictured below via FNGC), almost 32% of all approaches come from the 200+ yard range. Long irons are the key this week with Strokes: Gained Approach sitting #1 in my model with emphasis on Proximity from the 200+ yard range. Despite the overall difficulty ranking I mentioned above, we have seen the winning score reach double digits in eight straight year and almost reach -20 on a few occasions(Rory McIlroy -18 in 2018, Jason Day -17 in 2016, Matt Every -19 in 2015). This keeps Birdie or Better % fairly high in the model, especially considering the correlation to fantasy scoring, but I will have some Bogey Avoidance in there as well. With all that, let's jump in and take a look at some core plays at each price point. The Course Bay Hill Club & Lodge - Orlando, FL Par 72 - 7,454 yards Greens...

Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 2/27/20

Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 2/27/20 It is that time of the season where teams are separating themselves after the trade deadline to make a push for the playoffs. This creates some exciting hockey to watch and also ramps up the fantasy games as well. Thursday brings us 10 games so let's jump in and take a look at some core plays for DraftKings and FanDuel at each position. GOALIE Andrei Vasilevskiy FD - $9200 DK - $8500 Opponent - CHI Proj Pts FD - 23.72 DK - 17.64 Much like last night, the goalie position is a tricky one for multiple reasons and it starts with Vasilevskiy. I have talked about him and used him a ton lately but his hot streak came to an abrupt end as he has now dropped three straight while giving up 16 goals against. I am not too concerned tonight considering the quality of goalie combined with the matchup against a Blackhawks team that has dropped nine of their last 11 games and rank outside the Top 20 in overall offense on the season. I will have exposure to Vasilevskiy in all formats. Jordan Binnington FD - $8600 DK - $8400 Opponent - NYI Proj Pts FD - 17.43 DK - 12.71 If you are at all concerned about Vasilevskiy(I am not), Jordan Binnington is most definitely in play tonight. He is coming off a game where he gave up five goals but still got the win which was his fourth straight giving him a 28-11-7 record on the season with a .911 save %. Tonight, he is in a plus spot at home as a -165 favorite against a struggling Islanders team that has lost five of their last seven games scoring just 13 goals and rank 29th in road offense overall. Fire up Binnington in all formats, especially on FanDuel in the mid $8K range. CENTERS Dylan Larkin FD - $6600 DK - $7200 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 14.21 DK - 11.43 There isn't much to get excited about this season if you are a Red...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – Honda Classic

Head on over to my Patreon Page After a pit stop in Mexico for the second World Golf Championship fo the season, the PGA Tour will begin the four-event Florida swing in Palm Beach Gardens with The Honda Classic. I mentioned last year about the weaker field at this event with it being sandwiched between a WGC event and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. We get a similar situation this year as the field is a bit weaker at the top with Brooks Koepka(#3) the only player currently ranked inside the Top 10 Official World Golf Rankings teeing it up this week. The PGA National Champion Course has hosted this event going back to 2007 so there is plenty of course history trends to look at this week. The course itself is a Par 70 that is posted at 7,140 yards on the scorecard and is annually one of the toughest tests on Tour. Over the last five years, PGA National has ranked Top 5 in difficulty(stroke average) four times with a winning score reaching double digits below par just once. We are also back to a 36-hole cut this week which will include the Top 65 & ties with the past five cutlines being above par(+3, +6, +1, +4, +5). One of the things we will be hearing a ton about this week is the Bear Trap which consists of Holes #15, #16, and #17 which make up one of the toughest three-hole stretches on Tour. That is not the only tough stretch on this beastly course, however, as holes #5, #6, and #7 are also a daunting task and ranked 1st, 5th, & 7th hardest last year(Bear Trap ranked 6th, 11th, & 10th hardest). The fairways are fairly tight here but the biggest defense that forces a lot of players into a "less than driver" strategy off the tee is the thick, gnarly rough. This has led to a...
