Pitching Targets

Note: We discussed Madison Bumgarner and Kenta Maeda in the Main Article. And will be going over a few more options below.

Carlos Carrasco FD 10200 DK 11700
Opponent - DET (Sanchez) Park - @CLE
FD - 36.48 DK - 23.9

After Madison Bumgarner, things get tricky if you play on two-pitcher sites or if you're looking a way to get away from the "chalk play" of the day. One route that I would strongly consider taking is Carlos Carrasco. He is one of the most dominant pitchers in the game today and will be going up against a Tigers' squad that strikes out quite a bit (22.4 K% 7th in MLB) against right-handed pitchers. I honestly think Carrasco has the highest ceiling on the night, so I'm all in on the 29-year-old for tournaments.

Not only do the Tigers strikeout a ton, but Carrasco also does some fanning of his own. He is coming into this contest sporting a 25.4 K% to go along with a 1.06 WHIP. This guy is the real-deal and is the best option if you're looking to fade Bumgarner.

Masahiro Tanaka FD 9000 DK 9900
Opponent - CHW (Rodon) Park - @CHW
FD - 31.78 DK - 21.04

Looking for a cheaper SP2 option? Then I recommend going with Masahiro Tanaka. He will be pitching on the road today going up against the Chicago White Sox. Not only is this a good matchup for the Japanese phenom, but it also gives him a nice ballpark boost. On the year, the White Sox own a .307 wOBA (23rd in MLB) and 21.3 K% (13th in MLB) against right-handed pitchers. He isn't a guy with Bumgarner and Carasco upside, but he's got a lot of things going for him tonight and I expect him to deliver a quality start. Go get 'em, Tanaka-ator!

Carlos Rodon FD 7900 DK 7900
Opponent - NYY (Tanaka) Park - @CHW
FD - 27.02 DK - 18.04

I know I just touted Tanaka, but I also like Carlos Rodon quite a bit tonight. He will be pitching at home against a Yankees' squad that has struggled this season. On the year, the Yanks' own a .297 wOBA (27th in MLB) and .128 ISO (28th in MLB) against southpaws. They lack power and contact against lefties and playing away from Yankee Stadium will hurt those numbers even more. Everything is in Rodon's favor, now he just has to get the job done.

So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.

  • When I first put lineups together without looking at projections, I like Rodon, happy that I was thinking what the DFSR team was.

  • Love his price point and matchup. More of a GPP play of course, but looks good
