Daily Fantasy MLB Hitter Stacks FanDuel & DraftKings 9/9/16

Welcome to our daily article breaking down some of the other stacking targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article and pitching breakdown but here we will look at other plays to consider if you're trying to win big in a large tournament.

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Stack Targets

Washington Nationals vs. Jake Thompson (Phillies)
Park - Nationals Park

The Nationals have the highest projected run total by always a full run tonight in a home matchup vs. the Phillies. They will be facing Jake Thompson who very well could be the worst starting pitcher on the bump Friday. After two solid seasons in the Phillies farm system, Thompson has struggled in his first stint in the big leagues walking close to five batters per nine while striking out less than six in his first six starts. He has given up a home run in five of those six starts for a 18.4% HR/FB rate and 5.55 xFIP that pretty much sums it all up.  Trea Turner, Jayson Werth, Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy occupy the top four spots in the order and will cost a pretty penny tonight but comes with a ton of upside. With most people paying up for at least one elite pitcher the Nats could also be fairly low owned. You can get some value in Danny Espinosa who is value priced on both sites.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Tim Adleman (Reds)
Park - Great American Ballpark

If you are looking to do a full team stack and can't fit the Nats, the Pirates make an excellent option. First of all, they get a big park shift going into Great American Small Park to face the Reds. They have the second highest projected team total(5.0) in a matchup against Tim Adleman who is giving up home runs at will lately. Over his last three starts he has surrendered seven home runs and while a 28% HR/FB rate probably isn't sustainable his 4.02 ERA is likely to take a hit with a 5.19 xFIP while holding just over 87% of runners on base.  With Starling Marte out with back spasms the top options have been Gregory Polanco, Jung Ho Kang and Andrew McCutchen who is under priced on both sites. Josh Harrison is also a nice value option who hits leadoff and has recorded a hit in eight straight games.

Cleveland Indians vs. Tyler Duffey (Twins)
Park - Target Field

Nothing sneaky about the stacks today as I am rolling with the three games with the highest projected totals. The Indians have caught fire once again winning eight of their last 10 games scoring five or more runs seven times. They have opened up a six game lead in the American League Central division and will look to extend that lead with a weekend series in Minnesota. It's been a sad season for the Twins who sit dead last with just 52 wins in 2016 which is in large part to their league worst 5.25 team ERA. They will send Tyler Duffey to the mound on Friday who has been a dumpster fire in the second half giving up 34 earned runs in just 35.2 innings with a 24.2% HR/FB rate. The Indians are a Top 5 team against right handed pitching this season and very top of the lineup heavy with Carlos Santana, Jason Kipnis, and Francisco Lindor. My favorite power hitter of the day is Mike Napoli who hits cleanup as Duffey has struggled most against with right handed batters, giving up a .412 wOBA and 16 of his 22 home runs against. They swept the Twins just over a week ago and wouldn't be surprised to see them do it again this weekend.
