Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers for FanDuel & DraftKings 9/9/16

Welcome to our new daily article breaking down some of the other pitching targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article, but here we'll look at a bunch of other solid plays to consider.

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Pitching Targets

Note: We discussed Clayton Kershaw, Carlos Martinez, and Tanner Roark in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.

Pitching Targets

Danny Salazar FD 9800 DK 9000
Opponent - MIN (Duffey) Park - @MIN
FD - 31.93 DK - 20.78

After a rough patch to open up the second half Salazar has been electric over his last two starts. Despite not picking up a win and not getting through the 6th inning in either start he has recorded 21 strikeouts bringing his K rate up to 10.60 K/9 for the season. The Twins have been swinging some hot bats recently but with a 21.7% K rate Salazar provides a very high floor, especially on DraftKings where he is the 11th most expensive option on Friday.

Tyler Chatwood FD 6700 DK 7700
Opponent - SD (Perdomo) Park - @SD
FD - 29.06 DK - 19.51

Chatwood makes a tremendous second pitcher option on DraftKings to pair with one of the elite aces. He also makes a projected low owned contrarian option on FanDuel that would allow you to stack the options on Friday. The big thing that stands out about Chatwood are his home and away splits this season. While he has understandably struggled at home with a 5.67 ERA he has been excellent away from Coors with a 1.82 ERA while limiting opponents to a  .248 wOBA. He isn't going to light the world on fire with his below average 6.19 K/9 rate but has generated the 4th highest ground ball rate(57.2%) of any starter with minimum 100 innings pitched. He also gets the biggest park shift there is going from Coors to Petco and the Padres rank dead last in wOBA(.280) and wRC+(80) against right handed pitching.

Madison Bumgarner FD 10700 DK 11200
Opponent - ARI (De La Rosa) Park - @ARI
FD - 38.64 DK - 25.33

Just like Salazar, Madison Bumgarner presents a pivot option at a discount from the two elite aces going head to head in Miami. He gets a matchup vs. the Diamondbacks who do hit lefties better for the season but strikeout at a 23% rate. The D Backs have also been struggling lately with the 27th worst wOBA(.285) and the worst ISO(.105) of all team over the last 14 days. Bumgarner sits in a tier just below Kershaw and Fernandez but has been having a tremendous season with a 2.51 ERA, 3.51 xFIP and high 10.09 K/ rate. The Giants come into tonight's game as big -195 favorites in a game with one of the lowest totals of the slate, despite the hitters park. Bumgarner has been better at home this year which has me reserving him to a GPP play tonight.
